Thinking about buying a Fi subwoofer
I was thinking more of Subwoofer budget ;3 already got me some killer 0/1 in my garage, KnuKoncepts Kolosus Fleks ftw. got 1 long 25 footer, and 1 0/1 6ft strand of the mentioned wire. (already preparing for an install, as soon as I got subs and more wood, im totally starting a build thread) im still considering a 1500.1, how well do you think it could push 2 Fi Qs?

equations. (i was bored)
this is true, I think if I play around with other variables, I might be able to plug in resistance, that will make these equations usable.

equations. (i was bored)
using fuse ratings to get amps, and only using RMS feed coming through the amp. this is why you need to figure out what the loss from the amp is, saying its a 160A thats getting 140 through, thats 14/16 = 7/8 which equals .875, or 87.5% thats how I find how efficient my amps are, I just take whats coming through unclipped, then compare it to how many amps the amplifier is pulling. i dunno, just a thought.

Running car amp in house off of PC PSU
your best bet is to use more than one power supply. its gonna be hard as hell to find 50+Amps @ 12V with any power supply.

equations. (i was bored)
So... I got bored today and decided to write up equations for amplifiers, like loss, power with efficiency, how to find how efficient it is. basically, a variation of ohms law. as we all know, (V)olts * (A)mps equals (P)ower (V*A=P) but, in amplifier circuitry, this cant be used because amps have their own loss. so lets say our imaginary amplifier is 160A, running off 10.65 Vs, and has an effieciency of 77%. it'll push out around 1312.08 Watts. now to find each number, we use these numbers to find them. Basically, 1312.08W / 10.65V = 123.2a - 160a = 36.8 amps of current lost in the amplifier, 36.8 / 160 = .23, subtract that from 1 and we get .77. simple. I'm quite sure all amp builders already know this, but it was interesting to me, I was trying to find what voltage that the Sundown 1500.1 would have to be at in order to put out EXACTLY 1500 watts. the amp is 80% effiecent and runs off 160A. so we would need exactly 11.71875 Volts behind it (11.7) in order to put out 1500 exactly if its 80% efficient. because no amp is 100% effiecient. (V)x(A)x(E in 0.X form) = (POWER) (P) / (V) = (amps after loss) (amperage left after loss) / (total amperage) = (E)ffciency (amps left after loss) - (amps total before loss) = (amps that were lost in the line) Well, thats about all I know with numbers for now, might throw more info on here, maybe even some info from one of my acoustics books (yea, i'll get some t-line equations on here)

Thinking about buying a Fi subwoofer
Either a Sundown SAZ1000D or Saz1500D would do you justice with a 15" Q or BL with the BP option. The most h/o alternators for Saturns are not over 200 amps, so I doubt you will find a 300Amp but you never know. If its a car your not going to fit a 18" subwoofer in a Saturns trunk, you can get a 15" ported with the right amount of enclosure space or 2-12" FI SSD's with a Sundown SAZ-1500D would be perfect also. If you get a good starting battery(group 34) and secondary battery for your system(group 31) you probably wont have to get a h/0 alternator depending on how your voltage holds up. just my .02 so a 15" Q with the SAZ1500 would do the trick? I like loud ;3 just out of curiousity, how big of a box do you think i could drop in it if its the car?

quick follow up, I just played a slowed version of Three 6 Mafia - Late Nite Tip, theres a flashlight on my desk right? a small winchester light, it started TURNING when it got down to the first lowest note. holy fuck this thing is SLAMMIN. I wanna put a better 15 in here though, I wanna see what a BTL will do to my room ;3 (then hear it in my saturn

so. I started the day off earlier than I normally do when i beat, just cranked the system up. the first few notes of Boss Of All Bosses by Slim-thug were very loud, my shirt was vibrating in the doorway ;o (like a real weak shirt trick, like a 10 in a thunderbird, still visible but not crazy or anything) goes to show you that you can do almost anything with room acoustics when you play with it ;o Love Your Gurl by The Dream wasnt that loud, but you could audibly hear all the low notes in it. Rockaway by Jump Fresh Klick is hitting all the right notes, its peaking when I play it, turn the stereo up to 60 (I usually stop at about 55 since it distorts when you turn it up more) and my closet was resonating BAD. the lightswitch in my parents room was vibrating visibly (you could see the wall moving very slightly) and the beads on the other side of the wall were bouncing. (they hang from a nail, basically saying my wall is moving.) Amilli by Weezy is a little too high, its making the doors resonate, the bedroom door that is held against the closet (via a heavy weight, and by heavy weight an old 20 pound motor, its a single stack 3"VCDIA ;3) vibrates enough for flex to appear on the top half. Bassotronics The Bass Will Destroy you (16hz bass) isnt very loud, its still really loud, and very musical and deep, that thing makes my ears tickle when it gets down under 20 ;o Put On by Jeezy, slowed to 83% is loud and low, audble all the way down to the note prior to the final one on the opening step, first note makes my door resonate bad (im about to just get some melamine and stuff this bitch) will have videos soon, for a old crappy 15 this thing gets loud!

Thinking about buying a Fi subwoofer
for electrical i'd be redoing the big three in 0/1, getting a HO alt for it (preferably a 300a alternator) for the amplifier, i'd be running a Sundown audio 1500.1, plenty of power for a Q or a no-option BTL. (sundown+Fi, always a fine combination) and if I cant make the 18 fit in the trunk, oh well, I'll just get a backup cam. (Once you start playing with 18s, you'll never move down to 12s again)

Thinking about buying a Fi subwoofer
I listen to a lot of Slim-Thug, I like my tones loud and low, hence why im looking into a Fi sub. And this will be going in a saturn. im actually not sure what kind of saturn im getting yet, but im positive its a saturn (guy at my dads work is giving me a free car, says it just needs brake lines)

they did sound like shit till I moved em into my closet. oh my god dude, 200 watts is enough to get these things loud, sounds real good with the gorilla zoe track Walk Wit' a waddle. These badboys have a tiny ass magnet, its amazing they can get loud, and get deep too

so, my friend Jeremiah tells me that his brother in law Sean was throwing away some vintage 70s 15" pioneers, so I was like sweet drop that shit in your trunk, I'll give you a holla' in 4 to 5 hours. so about 5 hours later, I showed up at his house, he told me Sean had ripped the woofers up to keep people from taking em. well, they werent actually in bad shape ;o the mids and tweets are destroyed, nothing I cant get off parts express for 50$ or less, I was more interested in the 15s for sub use (5.1 stereo with integrated subwoofer amp, my 8 that came with it was sold right after I got my 18 so I could buy some wood for it XD ) cause frankly, a 200hz crossover point means my music doesnt sound too well on the sats, so anyways, the woofers were just damaged a little around the surround, fixed it with some silicone sealent adhesive, the *bottom* 15 was damaged a little more, the cone was ripped out a little more, it had broke the tencil lead under the dust cap, so for the past few hours i've been trying to get my weller working right to fix it with solder, I dont understand why the solder keeps moving away from the tencil stud on the coil, its getting annoying, cause when the lead sparks at the bass the woofer distorts. trying to fix it cause 2 15s is better than 1 15 (of the same brand and series of cource ) Anyways, these things are worn out so much its amazing, they use the traditional pioneer cloth/fiber surround, so no dry rot (yay for me), the magnets on these things are TINY AS HELL (like 20oz at the most), the suspension is worn the hell out though, the spider isnt very stiff, when playing with tones they push out... And (best part) When you push the cone down and release it, they bounce!!!!! Anyways, still a good grab fer free. (pics will be up shortly)

Thinking about buying a Fi subwoofer
well, its about time I get a new subwoofer, my 15s are completely worn to shit (bet you've never worn a driver so bad you can make the cone bounce by pushing it in) they sounded so good 10 years ago, I dont know what happened. anyways, so I've got 4 computers imma sell to get a fi, that means 400 to 500 dollars for a new setup. What should I go for that wont kill my price limit? (Please note, Shipping is a factor here, and I want an 18, so subtract 40$ from the total money for wood. yadayadayada) Thinking about maybe a Fi Q 18 fully loaded... but could I get a no-option BTL for under 500 shipped??? (best to put it here, you people know how much these drivers weigh, and if it helps Zip is 46628)

how much do u get out of sound deadening your box
Mats aren't just for metal parts. It is for anything that resonates. Many people use it on their plastic panels. If your box panels are resonating then deadening it will help but bracing will be better for you. If you think that deadeners are useless in speaker boxes then you need to check out hometheatershack.com. Almost everyone has some sort of deadener lined in their boxes even with awesome bracing. I am about to add some egg crate foam to the walls in my home theater box for a less hollow sound because of its size. This is more for the sound than bracing but it is a use of deadener in the box. However, I don't know about raamats though. I have never tried it or heard from someone that has. dude, mat is completely useless in boxes, my dad builds the material and I know how its graded, its graded with lowering the resonance frequencies of metal, not wood. Lining your boxes with deadener is a waste of money, its unbelievably stupid because as BigC stated, MDF is an acoustically dead material. if your gonna line your box with anything, use Melamine foam like I did.

the mach5 mid's look good, not too terribly priced either. might go with them. hmmm, now im curious about how big of a port I should make. I do have a lot of tubing in my garage, like... BIG port tubes (dad works for a company that builds damping material, so I have these big tubes that the aluminum comes on) like everything from 3" diameter to 10" diameter (yes, its a true 10" tube too, I tried a bass-tube design with one of my 10s before) if I go bigger, the tubes gonna need to be longer, so is it possible I might be better off using 2 ports with 6" tubes? ( I know it would divide length)

im liking the Ascendant audio carbon mid-basse's, and morel makes nice stuff but man, morels stuff can get pricey really quick. what would you recommend that would do good and not be too terribly expensive (given I dont have an unlimited budget)

using mat will NOT benefit the box in any way shape or form. mat is built to lower metal resonance and vibrations, so it will NOT work on wood!

(2) 18" RL-P subwoofers in a jeep
I would get an Aundown Saz-2000d or a Incriminator Audio 20.1, both will work well with these subs. I would go for 8ft^3 or larger for a sealed box or 10ft^3 or larger for a vented box. What room do you have, go measure how much you have in inches for Width x Height x Depth where the box will go. Then you will need to get the Big 3 Wiring Done if not done so already , and start looking at xspower batteries, deka, batcaps and see what you prefer? What other amps will you have in the car, for your highs and mids? im currently looking at using RE 6.5C components, maybe 2 sets up front, probably run em with a Clif Designs CD40.4LX, pretty sure that'd be able to run em good. (decide more on the frontstage once im positive on knowing my front stage) now that I take a peek at the SSA store, I think I might be better off going with a Sundown 50.4, cause it'd match that Sundown SAZ-2000D. I've liked sundown for a while, hell I was actually considering either the RL-P or the Nightshade 18. hmmm, seems as if I've just got my next questions. 1st question : What components would you recommend for my frontstage? (I'm not afraid to fiberglass and I can do it if I wanna put a set on my A pillars) 2nd question : What amp would you recommend for the front stage? (keep in mind that im trying to keep my total build under 3000~) 3rd question : Since I always do ported boxes, what tuning freq. do you think would be good for some earth shattering lows? (I'm thinking maybe 30hz)

so i've had interest in the RL-Ps for a while now, right? I figured for the 18s I want to put in my cherokee it'd be best to use something that everyone doesnt talk about. i've seen a couple videos of the 18s in question on youtube, and they appear to be some nice drivers, so, I am curious about em. I mean I would go with the flow like everyone else and get a Fi BTL, but, too many people use em, right? well, enough of my babbling, some questions for ya. First off, what amp would you recommend for 2 18" RL-Ps? (im trying to stay cheap, but not too cheap, basically, trying to spend under 800 for an amp) Second off following the top question being amps, What would you recommend I have on my charging system so I can keep up with the amp? (mind you this is a 1987 Cherokee) Third question, how big of a box should be good for these? (im trying to keep the backseat) well, thats all my questions for now, I might ask more later (who knows, later could be tomorrow or even later tonight)
