  1. was that box ported? if not you might try building a ported box for those 15s...u should be at least into the 140's with 2 decent 15s.
  2. nope..... Explain the nope? I'm confused... i too am confused. and to the op, there is no universal way to direct a sub, but im guessing sub up and port towards the trunk lid would be fine. some people put them facing the backseat and some people take the back seat out and face the subs right into the cabin.
  3. u could do sub up port back.
  4. set it by your ear...just watch for signs of stress
  5. id shoot for closer to 2000...since they are only rated for 600.
  6. i've seen several single 12 setups that will out meter an 18...size really doesnt mean all that much. theoretically a couple 15s should b louder than a 12, but it all depends on the install. hell, jacob did a 150.x or some rediculous number with a single 8" sub...im guessing i wasn't doing a 150 with my 18...its all in the install.
  7. i was always told that 45s were bracing...to the op: ported boxes are not 1 note wonders if u build them correctly. u dont wanna go to big or too small, and you dont want to tune to low or too high, u just have to find a happy medium and u will have a great sounding sub/box combo.
  8. ok that makes more sense...thanx for clearing that up. i mean i know what to watch for and smell for, but others may not.
  9. see i just got a freshly reconed hdc3 15 and i think it sounds great, and gets hella loud. the reason i was wondering about break in is bc aq says to break in the sub and i have been trying to figure out why they recommend that when everybody else says its not necessary. the only reason i could think of is because the recommend a high tuning and we all know that if u play too far below tuning you could tear ur spiders...but when they recommend upwards of 36hz tuning how much lower can you play them without messing something up?
  10. what do they gain by telling people to be gentle on their subs for a few weeks?
  11. i think the reason aq recommends a break in period on their subs is because the recommend tuning them so high. if u just go beating on them below tuning wont the spiders tear?
  12. i heard onlinecarstereo.com was good.
  13. i also might b there...nebody know what class i would be in? i have an saz1500d and will have a 15" something this weekend lol, 1 battery, stock alt, and big 3.
  14. just do some reading man, its really not that bad. there are some nice calculators all over the net, or u could do it the old fashioned brain way.
  15. those look to have a psi recone, so they might not be all that bad.
  16. hey bro, welcome to the site. why dont u try building ur own box? its really not all that hard as long as u take ur time and have a little patience. also where are you located? there might be somebody on here near you that is willing to help out.
  17. u'd have to wall it but i think u could do it.
  18. lol i liked my brutus, but i liked my zx1000.1 more.
  19. just my .02 but i just built a box tuned at 32hz and 2.5 cubes and it knocks like no other. he's running it off of a saz1500 too. but i would listen to andrew since he knows what he is talking about.
  20. you are having bad voltage problems...what kinda electrical upgrades do u have? also, where are you located? maybe there is somebody on here that can help u out locally, since it is alot easier to fix something when u can see it.
