Welcome to the IHoP
Start is a strange word. A well equipped one (read good shocks, track etc) is closer to $11k, but deals worth a few grand off can happen. I have a 2010 that I bought with 1200mi for $5500 OTD last Feb. Today I could probably sell it for $6000 still. The one I sold this fall I bought 2 years ago for $4500, put 2000 miles on it and sold it for $4300. Not bad for $200. The one I am looking at today, I'd sell the shock package off of it for $1800, put on $700 replacements and own the thing for about $3k. Be a great 2nd sled and a hoot when I really want to whoop things up.

Welcome to the IHoP
Going to look at a snowmobile today. Super modified, built on a race chassis, and after emailing on CL found it he is friends with one of Josh's riding pal's. More sled than I need, but I'll really only ride it when the wife comes along and is on my other one. Figured that way I'll be able to bring someone else along as well. Hope its in good shape!

You need more power. I have a monster track for the trail and can still break it loose a lot. Will pull "wheelies" at 40mph without having a clutch to dump as well. Power to weight is the fun. Oh, and I have mine setup to not pull wheelies as I like to have my skis on the ground when I need to turn. No apehanging to show off here, but modulating the front to bang the bumps you bet. 250cc two stroke is plenty of power for everything I do. Only time I'm wot is for a few straight-aways throughout the trails, maybe twenty seconds max. You wouldn't want to hold my sled WOT for 20 seconds unless you had A LOT of space. That being said I peg the flipper as much as possible, well at least early in the day, later on you get a little softer on things. For me, open space is a quarter mile run. I believe I top out around 65 70, but really all the fun is acceleration, and turns. Same here. I can choose to find more wide open but that isn't normal. Instead of single track though we ride on trails that are usually between 6-10' wide with lots of tight corners and tree's on both sides. Extremely similar only everything happens quicker and more safely on a snowmobile.

And that was a process that was done correctly.

Anyone actually played with this stuff? I could think of a few things it'd be useful for. *now watch, someone will have something better and I'll feel dumb That is just like the beads that come with fx fangs. I may have to get a jar and see for myself. I wonder how the bungee hooks would hold up? After seeing the teeth I was hoping you'd say that

Well this is awkward: Sweet! Since I decided to sell my house and move I don't need a truck for the boat anymore and that means I only really need to tow the snowmobile trailer. Maybe my next car Turbo? I wish. Drove the Turbo S a few months back and am still smiling. Not sure I can even pull an S off though. In this picture the Porsche looks huge, that trailer must be small along with the car that is on it. Or picture angle? Both. Although I fit inside both cars, albeit its a bit difficult to see stop lights in the Lotus.

I beg to differ. Dirt bikes are fun, don't get me wrong, but everything you like about them is better on snow. Including normal rider comfort in the environment. I'm sure some of the similarities on the snowmobile would be more extreme, thus more fun, such as drifting around corners. I just love the feeling of being leaned up on the gas tank, dive bombing into a turn, inner leg extended out, bike leaned way way over, and accelerating out. One of my favorite parts is going through big well spaced whoops. Hit first one, lift front end into the air, wheelie over the top of the next whoop, set front end down, hit next whoop, wheelie out, etc. Plus I have all the desert to ride. If there was snow instead, I'd probably get a snowmobile. Yours a two stroker? Yes indeed on both accounts. I have absolutely no interest in a four stroke machine. I'll leave those idiotic adventures to those with Japanese envy that are permanently dissuaded by a joke of a reason to drive a boring tank.

I have a hard time with control on sleds. But I'm sure if I had the same amount of experience on a sled I would enjoy it. For now, i'll stick with two wheeled machines! Hard time? Sounds like a setup problem. WAY more control than any dirt bike

Much harder to fall. Something about nearly sitting on the ground and having a "3 wheeled" vehicle does wonders for the idiot proofing. Obviously can hurt pretty bad if you crash though since the top speeds are drastically different.

Snowmobiling > all. God damn its fun. Power to weight that is absurd and a medium that allows you to fuck up and not have it be a deal.
