Welcome to the IHoP
It's a great material for it. MDF WILL get wet in your doors. In particular if you drive a GM.

found packers of briskets. If you need the Love Matt let me know. Restaurant Depot wholesale. Just took some finagling to get a membership

Why weld it? Just drill a hole and bolt it in place. Add a second nut to hold in the kick panel.

Err, today, sort of. Not sure Nashville is real hockey, lol.

For me that is. Only real detractor is the fact its a Honda.

You get reflections Not audible at my ref level. Err, then you are seriously a god of EQ. Of course reflections don't have a "sound" but interfere. Pretty hard to "hear" them at any level, just their effect. I believe he means it sounds good to him and he can't tell. I know, just since Stefan is pounding through configuration after configuration and reading about vertical cues, azimuth response and other acoustic phenomena I don't want him to get too distracted. I have no doubt the Honda sounds stellar. I love the driver locations, aiming, etc. Jealous by a lot in fact as its nearly an ideal setup.

Did you try phasing, eq, t/a and everything in those positions as well. Every variable should be accounted for. Of course, the fastest way to account for some is to say fuck it I'm compromising on that.

I checked for you and my university doesn't have a subscription . Sorry Stefan. Even with a membership you have to pay for the docs. Didn't realize that is what you were looking for Stefan. At my old company I could have gotten them for you. From what I read, aes membership + $5 gets paper. Or $20 without membership. But a membership + subscription to e-library is free access to articles. Im too cheap to spend the twenty bucks. Right now at least. Way cheaper than it used to be, wow!

Understanding is a good thing, just don't take it as gospel. Um, okay. There are reflections below your dash as well. And its somewhat harder to deal with large driver spacing. Pick your evils carefully. The corrections you apply to solve the staging will change the FR if you use EQ. Reflections can funk up both FR and staging. MS8 autotune can suck my left nut.

Before you go nuts reading, do realize that a car is a fucking terrible place to put a stereo so no matter what all classical measurement techniques and approaches fail miserably. That being said, the trade-off's that are chosen should be personal. ie, you can get a perfect stage rather easily in many installs but at the cost of frequency response. What is more important? Not saying that some semblance of both isn't possible, but I bet you aren't willing to go far enough into the install to get there. Moral of the response? Determine your physical constraints first as they are the ones that really make the determination.

I went through this whole debate. Placement is everything, so yes better up high. EQ'ing is the last resort in my book if you understand the way the human ear perceives sound and follow the things you know about accoustics during install then you have already awnsered your own question. I had a Sony deck years ago that had a setting that "raised" the sound of the front speakers in increments . The unit had three settings. Amazingly it actully worked, SO in theory I know you can use the eq to raise the correct frequencys but have no clue which ones. I just know that install will predict so much and the eq'ing is there to correct anomalies in you particular install due to driver characteristics , install limitations and accoustics after the fact. Yeah I understand your point, and agree the less EQ the better, but having the tweets on the dash to raise the stage height will also introduce windshield reflections, and so forth. Still EQing. I know it's not always terrible, but I'd like to keep the tweeter and midrange close together. EQ is used to reduce anomalies that artificially BOOST the signal. Using it for something else is a poor bandaid.

My comment was extending ryan's to those who shouldn't drive manuals anyways. Forcing a gear for speed control is huge. Not only on hills but ice as well

I would do the same thing. Brakes are far cheaper than transmission repairs. All the vehicles I own are manuals so I will agree to dis-agree. Brakes are almost a get to in comparison to the have to in replacing a clutch. WAY not fun.

God, I still haven't had time to test mine If Adrian hadn't quoted that I would have missed it. I've decided to try a 3-way and keep using the current tweets I have, so now I'm looking at midrange drivers instead of wideband / fullrange drivers. I'm going to try new kicks a shot, leg room should be fine, just have to get some better aiming. I found a pretty good deal on some bnib overpriced drivers that many would frown upon, but I've actually heard these drivers in the past and loved the sound. Of course 99% is install, but I'm going to try them out and if I'm not happy, I can sell them in a heartbeat. sell the HAT crap and buy a real driver

But it's melting like hell now! So tired of this bipolar weather! We had windchills of negative 28 degrees last week and now it's almost forty today! We ain't got shit. Had to drive to the Cable WI area to find snow yesterday. Was a bit soft as well.

Your timing ROCKS. Was at Verizon asking for a 4G world phone yesterday... im about to order a droid 3 for myself. its global ready but only has 3g. 4g IMO if you don't live in/near a large city it won't be worth it.. I think I had 4g maybe 20% of the time on ATT/Sprint. Plus you have to pay extra for something you probably won't get. Works here pretty well and if you look at the top 20 mostly populated metropolitan areas in the US that is where I spend 95% of my time when in the US. 4g is also rather useful in Japan and throughout plenty of Asia. Amusing that you are in MO and with Sprint and it doesn't, rofl.
