New Interior Design
I think you'd have way too much money into a 2004 Impala...

PURE SPL Box.
Definitely not a 4th order BP, but between the 6th and the reflex you'll be splitting the hairs of how well the design fits your space. I would argue that it would be beneficial for you to attempt this with at least three boxes and measure/feel the difference to truly start to understand what is happening. I'd choose the same alignment for all three.

Help me choose best SQ sub for my setup.
I disagree about the 8. It may overpower stock speakers playing at a reasonable, non-distorted level but not if they're blasting. I've heard stocks keep up with a an HDC ported until almost max volume. It sounded bad but you could hear it over the bass. And to the op, cone area is your friend. 2 12"s ported can surprise you if you've never heard anything like it before. Hearing it "over" the bass is NOT keeping up, lol. Keeping up is when your lowest note the midbass plays is the same volume as the highest note your subwoofer plays or at least they are adjusted in such a way that the transition is "seamless". Terrible description, but you get the picture. As for whether an 8" driver can do it will depend on where you think you need to cross your mids over for it to sound right. Easier for me than most considering I want the front stage to play as much of the frequency range as possible. If you didn't care, then of course the mids will have more output at a higher cross point.

SKAR Class D Amp Prototype Pictures (800W & 1500W)
Now that this is off your shoulders, let's keep it on topic. While post deleting disgusts me and is completely inappropriate and NOT acceptable here, that was the first time that I know he has done it. I'll look forward in this regard and not think about the past. To the rest of you that had posts deleted I am sorry, that won't happen again here on SSA without a nice PM explaining it and it damn well better be for good reasons then. And those weren't good reasons. As for this topic, please lets keep it about these amps. Thank you.

As for that thread I moved it to where he can't do shit to it. Please keep it non-emotional though as that isn't necessary. He can either ignore it or answer my question. I would suggest answering. What went on while I was at the tradeshow disgusts me. Deleting posts is not acceptable. NEVER. For every post that EVER gets removed the person who posted it should get a PM explaining it.

You wouldn't like where I went to school then. 3 days is a long time for an 8 pager. x2 <<<<< never wrote an 8 pager We used to write 2500-3000 word papers every 2 weeks in one semester. And my 55 page diploma project was written in about 10 days... wow, so was that required to graduate? Yup, 50 page minimum. And the 10 minute presentation was worth more than the paper + actual project. Hour presentation for mine and another hour to defend it Now that would have been ok. 10 minutes was not enough to even try to get them to understand FFT's. Let alone algorithms for detection, normalization, DAQ board -> PC transfer etc. The basis for mine to even come to was that you understood FFT's, if not you surely weren't asking any questions as the rest you'd have no idea about.

The production run with our unique heatsink, etc will be our own unique design. SKAR Amplifiers will not sacrifice build quality or internal components for price at all, which serves our market all while keeping consumer pricing at a fair level. Many of our customers who run the subwoofers are looking to match them with amplifiers, so here they are! I don't care about the heatsink that is trivial, I meant the amp design. As for the wondering, the build quality choices would describe that and be a reasonable answer. I am not asking for any trade secrets, but again if you are going to be satisfied and excited about these tell us why. *if you don't want this in the Skar section fine, its now in the amplifier section **that doesn't mean that anyone else should feel free to add off topic posts as those still aren't necessayr

Whose design is this and why would we buy yours versus another? I'm sure everyone is wondering.

Couldn't agree more that you won't want your tweets on axis. I'm also confused by your goals. A single 8" sub in a sealed box can over power stock drivers EASY.

2000 oldsmobile intrigue 3.5l.LX5 (shortstar), based on the northstar if that helps. these engines are known to burn some oil. i also have a small leak somewhere i believe. 194k miles and still running so i cant complain, i bought it with 118k. has been pretty reliable as well, very little maintenance besides some senors, 2nd time changing plugs, and the usual brake, rotors, and tires. You mean its a GM... If its based on the northstar, its a given it'll leak oil....

One other downside, you paid out your ass for it and mine cost .42, would have been free but I had to invest in a stamp. Worked fine for two years, then the HP came home and its been fucked since

My bad, sorry for that. I forget when the Anthole left I removed the remark knocking his company and linking to a solution that worked in SDS. The link that Miller posted is what I was referring to. If I had sigs on I might have seen that, sorry.- Welcome to the IHoP
Well, fuck. Oh shit, wish I was near that. Now they are both fixed- Welcome to the IHoP
Well, fuck. I adjusted it to how I read it, lol- Fatmat liquid body armor?
Deadener won't help with that, you need an acoustic barrier. Lead sheeting or Mass Loaded Vinyl is your friend. Do some reading on SDS site (link in my signature on deadening) and that will help you understand. If it isn't clear, please ask away and we'll help. The owner of the company Don might even pop in if you ask the question, but if not plenty of us will.- Welcome to the IHoP
Avatar worthy in fact- Welcome to the IHoP
Perfect. You drawing >> me- Welcome to the IHoP
That's why I asked what engine. It ha to be an ecotech or quad4. You already assume it isn't a SHO? It's an Olds, so those are the only viable options to have a soaked plug. I didn't read the Olds part. Guess that is what happens when I run on 2 hours of sleep. Effing teething. Now my poor wife gets to deal all alone. Not going to be happy when I return on Thrudsay night- Sub Choice?
you need to share more details than that...by a lot- Welcome to the IHoP
