The what was because I am seriously not sure what you were asking. Took a crack at it, but somehow think I missed your point.

What makes them heat soaks? The luminous intensity of the light is great enough to excite the molecules of the container to produce enough heat to cook an egg, or am i wrong? Through metal? Lol. Even still if your hypothesis was correct then they couldn't be sold as flashlights. Why wouldnt there be vibrational heat losses if its some compound, not element? weve discussed this somewhat in one of my classes, but we were talking about solutions What? While light waves are indeed waves for them to cause vibration they would need SERIOUS focused energy. As in WAY FUCKING MORE than a battery could provide. Even with crazy optics you won't get that focused to create enough power to do that. I am currently experimenting with a light source to impart vibration but that source has serious OSHA ramifications.

And why is it a benefit that they are such heat soaks that they can cook eggs?

Your going to be there all day. Shits like IKEA for new home owners. LOL I don't need much, but I figured if I'm going to be in the area I could find an excuse to walk in Heh heh. Do they have one retail store / warehouse? 2 actually

The machine really has nothing to do with it. About the only thing i would worry about would be variable speed, but even that's not a necessity. My dad has an old Milwaukee that I love, but it's about 30 years old and heavy as shit and makes stretching over large horizontal panels very difficult. I went to Harbor Freight and bought a cheap buffer for $30 and it's been working fine for about 5 years now. Interesting, my buddy bought a cheap one online and the thing is so far out of balance it isn't usable. I figured all the cheap ones were that way. By no means am I a pro, but I've spent a good 100+ hours holding one so I am not a tard either. Well that's a given being it was out of balance. It was probably dropped during transit, but that's easily assessable once you plug it in for the first time. If it doesn't feel right, take it back. Now, I am assuming you are talking about a polisher not a buffer correct? What I am talking about appears like a grinder, not the little handheld turd with handles on it. Yes. Bought a Klutch today, but can return it. Northern Tool brand... Still $80, but I'll drive by Harbor Freight before I open it.
  11. Rules of thumb don't work and acceptable port velocity is a bit personal. 2304 LOL

Mine is from the 70's... As for what to get, that depends on a lot, but that being said you can always gain down but not up.
  13. Happy Burstturdday!

Put a 2x2 under it and a collar to go around. Couldn't agree more....but what would you use for a collar?
  15. ///M5 replied to mrray13's topic in Off Topic
Had a crazy thought for laying out my kitchen differently, but to try it I need to add about 7" of height to my current kitchen table. The legs are 2x2 teak, but I don't care if it matches at all. Just an experiment that will last a few months so that I can decide what to buy. They are wood so I could dowel, put in a threaded rod, etc. but would like to be able to remove whatever I attach so a permanent gluing is out of the question. Any ideas?

Smart man. Should have a monster year. Dynasty leagues. Drafted him as a rookie.

They only spec 20Hz because its the end of audible range and in pro audio that is all that is important. My Crown sure plays well below that.
  18. ///M5 replied to Punkeyboozter's topic in Home Audio
Somewhere in the teens. Have to balance the box and response and model it to really know, but probably 12-16Hz or so.
  19. ///M5 replied to Punkeyboozter's topic in Home Audio
20Hz is too high for HT. And for sure an aftermarket SS filter is necessary unless you use a really conservative amplifier and box design.

Stafford is my starter in 2 leagues
  23. Mounting them on the roll cage won't help you, it'll just make you the obnoxious prick who screws up the trails by being loud. That being said, since budget isn't a concern you can pay someone to glass them in a better location. That still keeps it simple. Are these going to get wet? After driving a Poo Razor through some puddles I am not sure how you could say no to that, but if it is the case you'll need some outdoor capable drivers. The Kicker HLCD setup works well in an open air environment.

Two of my friends have Makita buffers. Another has a generic piece of shit. I am sick of having them loan theirs to me, but if I am dropping $150+ I'd like to make sure I get something decent. Obviously I've had good luck with the Makita, but anything else you guys would look at?

Its cheap to play, flexible in the number of people and contracts are very similar to our baseball salaries but only in Europe atm. As soon as we build up enough players to compete slightly everything will shift.
