Welcome to the IHoP
Better heads They were back then, but the entire engine is a different beast from the Windsors. Indeed, the Cleveland is a much different beast, the 351 is huge and has the potential to make some real serious power. They are nearly impossible to find now at decent prices. They're a dime a dozen around here. I'd still take a Windsor any day. If you had to take a stock 70's Windsor or Stock Cleveland you wouldn't, but of course that is an idiotic requirement

Shallow 8 is more obnoxious than a deep 7?

I hate Andy Samberg. I don't get what's so funny about those songs. Hot Rod was great though. Don't even know who he is, but can guess from the reference.

Or you could get something better brand new for less than $100

Hiking boots ftw. Just still too damn hot to wear them.

Welcome to the IHoP
Only in Texas would this start with boots. Nothing wrong with good boots. You'd wear them with a suit to an interview? ...I wouldn't.

Headunit only has one set of preamps
2v/5v no difference. You "can" split that rca but will lose any and all h/u control.

How about an array of 2's going up the pillar? Hmmmmm I hadn't considered that. The main goal her is decently loud, clear music. Mainly rock, metal, and some hip hop. J Then the 4" comp set is a huge fail... Then PLEASE guide me in the right direction. I am not opposed to cutting or glassing (rather having someone glass) the door panels. J Space, goals, blah, blah, blah. And I'd be glad to help

Please get over your idiotic competition nonsense. If you want to demo what SQ sounds like just put on some headphones or sit in a living room with a half decent stereo. It really isn't that hard. Can you not read ??? I said absolutely nothing about competition ... And to be honest, I never said anything about listening to my truck because the equipment /setup he is looking for is nothing like mine, but there is PLENTY vehicles set up like what he is interested in ... And i would like to meet up with as many SSA members as possible just to chat, demos, pictures and vids ... Quit being so subjective ... Maybe if you went to a few competitions, who knows, you might like it ... Lord, you still don't understand subjective. This can help: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/subjective And you did say to go to USACI World Finals to DEMO cars. I just stated that was unnecessary as there are easier ways to have a "demo". Seems like I can read, not so sure about your comprehension though. Definitely a possibility and I agree with the control comment

Welcome to the IHoP
It's 8ohm, which I know is fine to run, but will it still get enough power for say an 125-150watt@4ohm rated amp? Don't look at only those two specs Either way, generically speaking you are fine.

Welcome to the IHoP
In the past when I cross them over higher to play some midbass, I felt like it started to pull away from the bass (~35hz-70hz), like it was playing too wide of content and started to lose it's "tightness", almost muddy. Listen to your subs only and see if you feel the same

Imagine that. Just a little fyi. ANY time management class will teach you that the "I'm too busy" means "It's not important to me" and its always the case. If its truly important you prioritize differently.

Component speakers
Two different goals. Ones for an amp and ones that are optimized for without. Either plan the amp and do it or plan to not.

3way active help
I'm a bit confused by your choices as they are all over the board and not related to each other. Need to start back a bit as well. Have you ever done a 2 way active? Where are your mounting locations? Listening desires, goals, budget, etc... *it is nice you put links, but in the future please say what it is above the link as some of us don't need the links

Welcome to the IHoP
Although before I say that I should ask how high you are willing to let your subs play because that could surely allow a smaller Sd for the midbass.

Welcome to the IHoP
Midbass authority and 6.5" aren't coincident goals. Need to move up to at least an 8.

HAT is overpriced yuck. As always though you should start with mounting locations, goals and limitations. In the active world there are a ton of ways to skin a cat. I do have one concern with the path you are going down (that I love btw) and that is output. A single on axis 3" driver isn't going to be all that "loud" so depending on your goals you may need to alter that. Please get over your idiotic competition nonsense. If you want to demo what SQ sounds like just put on some headphones or sit in a living room with a half decent stereo. It really isn't that hard.

Better heads They were back then, but the entire engine is a different beast from the Windsors. Indeed. Sort of assumed back then was implied. Most today are getting 427 small blocks based on the W.

No. And changing comp sets isn't the best way to get their either. I asked if it was a bad idea, you said no, but I'm assuming you mean no in general to the whole thing. So if I wanted more midbass, instead of mounting fifty speakers on my door panels, what would you suggest. If I crossover the subwoofers higher then it starts to sound sloppy, not as "tight". Simply put, my goal is more midbass. I have the door, dash, and kick panels to work with. Or maybe I should just look for the speaker with the highest RMS rating and give it as much power as I can before it blows. Instead of pointing the kick panel speakers from opposite sides (ex, speaker on driver side point to passenger, passenger speaker pointed to driver.) if I pointed both speakers to the driver? I haven't read a whole lot on alignments... I see JL has a 6.5" subwoofer, JL Audio 6W3V3-4.......................................... Have you considered going active? Considering all the fabrication work you're able to do a fullrange and a hardcore midbass would be pretty sweet considering your goals. Sean's mentioned the idea before and it seems like it would satisfy your goals. Yes I'm starting to consider to it. I'm thinking about: exodus anarchy http://www.diycable.com/main/product_info.php?products_id=538 sls 6.5 http://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/approx-6-7-woofers/peerless-830946-sls-6.5-woofer-4-ohm/ then SEAS Prestige 4.4" http://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/approx-4-midrange/seas-prestige-mca12rc-h1304-4.5-coated-paper-midrange/ Legatia L3 HAT http://store.12velectronics.com/products/Legatia-L3-Speaker-Set.html And finally some tweeters if needed. and getting a new amp, some crossover, or maybe a minidsp? I know I'm very strung out and indecisive today, just a bad day for me. Whoa, slow down killer. Goals, mounting locations, budget, processing, etc first. And throw out the stupid HAT idea, overpriced marketing foo foo.

6.5" sub for midbass?
Have you run your Dcon higher in frequency? Generally speaking cone area is uber beneficial for midbass just like for sub freq's.

Subthump Ported SA8 Ported Box Prototype
Not sure I understand 2 8's in that application...and for that reason don't think it would be a big seller. Of course, the general internet boner over 8's makes no sense to me either. They do have a time and a place, but that IMO is when box size must be small. Ported and 8's is a joke, unless you are using multiples, but then its a waste of money over buying something with more cone area and a single one.
