The driver without information on the enclosure is pointless and if you haven't determined what that might be for a driver or don't know how it should tell you to NOT use that driver. That makes one choice a serious fail and the other something that won't work for what you need I bet.

Law of diminishing returns hits quickly. It is really mostly in the install so focus there first and then yes audition. If you can't I'd personally stay away from exotic cones with wimpy crossovers as that is never a good match.

1) Find yourself a coop and only eat things that don't come in a box. IE, fruit, vegetables, meat from the butcher's area, real breads (ie no printing on the package), cheese from the imported section and so on. Taste 1000% better than the packaged shit and isn't full of stuff that will kill you. 2) Eat better tasting food, but #1 should solve that 3) Not my arena, but one rec'd I can make is to do whatever you are motivated to do. Doing something religiously that isn't right is better than not doing something regularly.

At any range? You run out of excursion capabilities without the box there to help control the woofer when running IB. Conveniently this box "control" is where excursion can get out of hand if it's IB allowing you to use more power across the board on the sealed driver. The question is worded rather poorly and is somewhat self evident when you state it differently. The question should be why can you run more power at sub-bass frequencies on a sealed enclosure than an IB considering they have basically the same output at the same excursion. This of course is the nice air spring that you have built as an enclosure Hopefully that addresses what you were asking, if not please reword it since I am not interested in visiting DIYMA. I find it amusing that the OP there thinks that it is "obvious" for ported, but not for sealed, my guess is that he doesn't understand much about enclosures at all.

I am curious as to what causes you to say that. I have yet to see or hear where optima actually lasts in someone's vehicle that is into car audio. Also, I believe the charging requirements for optima is stricter than xs so if he ever got a high output alt that charged closed to 15v, that could be another problem. So it wasn't about mixing, just not getting an optima?
