Welcome to the IHoP
Is it a good idea to update your firmware? I've been of the school of if its a computer and its working and does everything you need DO NOT add or change the software. When a need arises of course

That's understandable..... goes a bit against your normal purchase - sale price method but I definately get it. I didn't know the normal 3's from that timeframe could get as quick. They definately don't look as good though. You can add the "look" and the motor usually for way less than the M itself and have a more reliable faster car. As an example, my E34 was $15k and the motor if it went out was also about $15k for a rebuild. Needless to say that doesn't make you want to wallop on it. A normal E34 can be had with a bad motor for $3k, if you then stuck $12k into mods and parts it would destroy the M5. Only problem can exist when it goes to sell as the M will sell for what you paid for, but the standard with mods probably won't. To the right buyer it could, but the flip side is that you can beat the shit out of it as every part on it is UBER cheap.

Because the buying price of a good M is >> than one you make yourself. The one you make will be faster too. Only downfall with my logic is when it comes time to sell as the M will hold its value and your bulid will all be dependent on what you do.

Problem with the E30, E28, E34 is you are better off with a scrap one and swapping in a different powerplant than buying the M.

That is a very nice looking car, but I'd be looking at an E30 With an engine swap

Do NOT buy a Bayliner. A real boat that is older that is the same price would be MUCH better. Pretty much the Yugo of boats.

- Best component speaker system question ?
High RMS is a meaningless spec. It will describe output at all or actually anything for that matter. Usually it is chosen via marketing and not engineering as well. If you are cheap and truly want SQ then spend most of your money on the install and not the drivers.- Best component speaker system question ?
Best? No. Worth the difference to you? Go listen to them both and decide? If you were causing the tweeters to go into protect before then you should probably have protect otherwise you'll be apt to blow whatever you have. Is it necessary? Not if you actively listen for stress and adjust accordingly.- new box for the custom 12"
I like kevlar- Welcome to the IHoP
Just for the stereo. Had $6k worth of rods stolen from my bass boat which taught me to not leave anything in the boat, but I don't feel like putting the amps on a quick release board and connector so they can come with me. Figure some unique mounting hardware and an alarm will do me fine.- Wiring different ohm mids together in parallel?
Assuming that their specs are at all real. Not sure why it matters though as I don't think that is really the information you are looking for. What I would expect you should be interested in is where to bandpass them such that you don't push them to their mechanical limit and then "hope that their spec is appropriate enough to keep them safe thermally. And then determine what that does when you mix the different impedance drivers. Of course your system is going to be bloodcurtling both in output and response, but you already know that. That being said the detail of what driver gets what power won't help that anyway.- Center Channel
Since you all brought it up, who is correct here ?? Impious said that rears was a valuable addition to a stereo sound system. M5 said that rears are not beneficial ever IMO. read much?? I said "addition of noise is not beneficial ever". Of course if you disagree with that feel free to share why.- Center Channel
Exactamundo. Classic to his response to everything, might even ask the right people but misapplies what he thinks he learned terribly. Same is going to happen here or for anything in his car for that matter. He's proven over and over again to not think, nor listen, but draw conclusions that are inappropriate and stick to them. Of course I said the same thing earlier: And instead of asking for clarification or to understand we got an emotional defensive response that is also misrepresented rehash of something he heard somewhere else talking about ambience which amusingly, straight from Google shows the problem. Addition of noise, is not beneficial ever IMO. am·bi·ence noun /ˈambēəns/ ambiances, plural; ambiences, plural 1. The character and atmosphere of a place * - the relaxed ambience of the cocktail lounge is popular with guests 2. Background noise added to a musical recording to give the impression that it was recorded live- Welcome to the IHoP
And I actually think its unlikely. Doesn't really take any longer to unsnap and you look less guilty.- Welcome to the IHoP

Other than the boat that I owned from the time I was 13 until I was 28, I have never lost a dollar on a boat that I have purchased. Its more normal for me to sell them for more than I paid. Of course that doesn't include gas and maintenance, but the maintenance is really pretty cheap if you do it yourself. Gas I have no comment on - Best component speaker system question ?
