Welcome to the IHoP
Should help those rthat do the right engineering more than those that don't too. Much more of a system approach which will help us.

Curious if I can manage to get some more valvetrain business now that fi is in the mix. It should make the heads at least as important

Keeping speakers, adding new sub
I'd rather have ultra used CL stuff than open box from retailers. Exclusively based on bad historical luck, but nonetheless. In many cases older is better anyways as you don't need any processing. Just an amp, volume control and maybe bass/treb pots.

Hope you like them, IMO they write better than pretty much anything I've used. I don't pay for my pens either but I do get to choose them.

Not sure why you are surprised. There is a reason BMW >> Mercedes. I suspect any 10 year old car with this low of mileage would start doing this, so I can't point the finger at Mercedes just yet... My M5 was older and had less miles when I bought it. It also had storage months being a Northern car. Old straight 6 bm'ers are pretty much the most reliable things on the road though...until the advent of some electronic ninny bullshit in the early 90's anyway.

Keeping speakers, adding new sub
There are tons of options. For your needs though simpler is better. The only downfall with the brands you listed are that they have a variety of quality levels. Onk makes stuff that is just fine, but their Integra line is better, Pio has some okay gear, but Pio Elite is nice and so on. It isn't as simple as brands, but more important models. Either way even the shittiest of any of the above is worlds better than what you have now.

Building a Transmission line
I am interested in learning some of the math involved with different box types, and resonance and such. I think, with help of ritalin and diet coke, if i can read it, after a bit of time (and experimentation) i can learn. If it requires a PM you shouldn't believe any of it...

Welcome to the IHoP
Consider this your reminder..... I did some research and one guy said that a $2 uni-ball signo 207 is plenty capable. I'm no pen collector, just wanted to get something descent for some personal writing stuff. SEAN!!! CONSIDER THIS YOUR REMINDER Read two posts above.

Extremely Disappointed
Of course it will be as it is MORE average power. Yes there is, power kills speakers. Or more correctly stated, there are two ways to kill a driver with a signal: 1) Overexcursion - cause by too much instantaneous power 2) A thermal death - caused by too much average power When describing a signal that is detrimental to the driver it has to be for one of the two reasons. And the only way heat can be increased is to increase the average power.

I normally despise gel pens, but I'm intrigued. I do too, but the Uni 1.0 Jetstreams are fucking sweet.

Welcome to the IHoP
Gel pens ftw. Remind me tomorrow and I'll let you know exactly which model. Love them, nothing better disposable. I prefer them to parker, Mont Blanc and pretty much all normal pens by a long shot. Embarrassing to cost $3 and write better than a $200 pen.

No. Basically: Square wave = more power at the same voltage. Turn down the voltage so it has the same power as the sine wave and the heating of the coil will be the same. Brad's lag comment actually says the contrary to what you think you understood that being the speaker cannot follow the path directly but lags and rolls that it will then come closer to following the sine wave and it would then make less heat not more. Either way, again motion and everything else is confusing this. It is really very simple. Average power through a wire creates heating. Same average power = same heating. There is nothing else to discuss on the heating side. If the topic switched to cooling and some other response because of waveform shape fine, but in the realm of heating via the Physics of power there is no difference in waveforms of the same average power. I will add that anyone that discusses instantaneous power as a heat source doesn't understand basic Physics as ignoring the time in the equation is not possible. Sorry that I am not as eloquent in my descriptions as Brad is, but hopefully my points have been clear. Don't stop asking questions or clarifying though, we don't always realize that you all don't follow

dual-chamber tri-vented box?
Why? More variables = more things to design poorly around. I'd turn that offer down FAST.
