in dream land what would you purchase? Oh lord, a ton of shit. Would start with a nice house on Lake Minnetonka.

Makes me sick everytime I do. Sometimes lazy wins out. In 3 years its been about 6 times....and its 6 times too often.
  3. If the power is the same, the heating is the same, otherwise Joule was wrong as he even used heat going through a wire to define power. In other words the effect of the amplifier on the coil wire will be the same. if you are measuring something different it is because of a different factor. The time is already dealt with in the power equation so that is not the case. If you wanted to blame this on some other aspect of the design fine, but not when you are applying equal power.

Shutting off the internet on the plane
  5. I was referencing the other amp situation as it is the only way to test the heat and your statement. From the test scenario you described you can't draw that conclusion but if you did it at a level that you could easily confirm they have exactly the same average power then fine.

Any of them use snow shoes on the FWD's? Yep, the pizza boy who has been stuck in my driveway 2x.
  7. You showed the same instantaneous voltage in your example though which by default is more average power. And yes more average power = more heat.

My buddies CTS makes it up fine as well, but it also has snows. The big problem are when people with fwd shit visit. Not only do they not make it up, but they start to slide and power themselves sideways and get really fucking stuck. I have had at least 10 people stuck in my driveway and ALL of them were fwd shit.

Snow tires on the ML make it go just fine. The wives XC90 is okay as well although once this year she had to shut off the overprotective traction control to make it. There is a W-winter button that turns down the nanny and makes it possible. She had forgotten she had it though so I had to go out and do it.
  10. I'd start over for sure, nothing but crap in that setup. A really retro receiver from a pawn shop/CL will kill it. Then you can add whatever you like for the two speakers and sub.
  11. I am still confused as to your point. You either have an instantaneous voltage reading or are talking about average power. If you have the same output in volts at the peak of the wave the average power is higher for a square wave than a sine wave. If it helps you think about it, do the same test at 100w on an amplifier that is capable of 1000w. If the time period changes, the power changes. Delta T is part of the power equation and cannot be removed.

I'd like at least another 2 months of it....might be buying a new snowmobile this weekend as I have offers in on a couple of them.

  14. Exactly as that is how you describe power. Again, average is implied. Has to be unless you are referring to instantaneous but then it wouldn't be a stress test showing heat as you can't measure instantaneous heat changes accurately. You should think about your calculation of watts. By definition it is average power. You are taking a shortcut of course and using a simple measurement device that only measures instantaneous which is confusing this as it is the wrong unit of measurement for the task at hand. You need to account for the delta T otherwise the whole discussion of heat and cooling makes no sense. Still.. If there is less power by definition using RMS figures.. Why is there more heat present? clipping. If I understood what you did for a test right then you are comparing MORE power on the square wave to less on the sine. More power = more heat.
  15. Ok, I posted that before I realized there was another page. Exactly as that is how you describe power. Again, average is implied. 16. Energy over time is the definition of power. Indeed and power should always be described by instantaneous or average. When using the word power on its own it is intrinsically assumed that you just left off the average portion. This of course means there is a rather stark difference in power in those two graphs. .707....

Oh, and HELL YEAH!! http://www.polarisindustries.com/en-us/snowmobiles/2012/preview/crossover/800-switchback-pro-r/pages/overview.aspx Can't wait to try one of those out/buy it. Loved the Rush but wanted more track. 3 years I get to wait now, but I will have one.

Completely sucked actually. Anything with a positive outcome for the fudgepackers blows goats. Still better then the Sqealers winning. No way. There are 31 teams i'd MUCH rather see win than the pack

  22. Don't normalize in voltage but in power. Confusing to read when we are discussing the effects of power and clipping as the waveform has a huge effect on the amount of power. You're test is invalid, equipment(not actually subwoofers) and tones(freqeuncy) were wrong. I like that you atleast try it, but you shouldn't us this as a good scientific test, because it wasn't. And subsam(and nick with the pictures) have already explained why, sqaure wave vs sine wave are just physics, the wave is more "powerfull" with a square wave.(in terms that everyone understands) EDIT: what do you mean with the next comment? (That's awesome.. Lol.. ^^^ It obviously wasn't scientific....... ) Yes you tried to be scientific, but it wasn't scientific enough, you need to have the correct enviromnemt.(and a controlled one.) Huh?? Invalid? Perhaps science eludes you. Test was spot on and way better from a scientific perspective than I have ever seen ANY manufacturer do.
  23. Agreed, not worth it. Hell I've seen cars where the K&N flows worse than a stock paper as well. Owned one as well, the M5 does better with the stock unit. If you want a faster car, sell what you have and buy something else.
