Welcome to the IHoP
Yes they are shitty. Can't do much besides climb a couple hills and ride some trails with those damn 4 bangers. Too heavy for me. I like to whip it around and have fun, pretty much being able to manipulate the sled to do what i want, when i want is what i prefer. Funny in that it is my sentiments exactly but when they weighed them wet they were lighter than the Cat or Poo 2 strokes. Feel like tanks though. Perhaps it is all front end weight so it feels like shit.

Welcome to the IHoP
But that doesn't mean i wouldn't take a Lexus LFA or a m5 My M5 was the cheapest car to maintain that I've ever owned. I spent nearly 7x on my Silverado even though I did drive 2x the miles.

Need a new car ASAP, help me choose!
Ouch, seriously? Biggest mechanical wrecks ever. I have 4 friends with Range Rovers and all of them are in deep shit repair wise. My sisters, which was under warranty thank god, had over $25k in repairs in 2 years. Hers wasn't the worst among my friends either. I would run like hell from them. The new Jeep is sweet and amusingly is pretty much the same size as the ML considering they share a chassis. I know they stretched the new body on the jeep 4", but it doesn't drive any bigger. I wasn't recommending the AMG, just stating that the dash and h/u replacement won't be trivial.

@rudeboy
Seriously? That doesn't sound like Don, must have been a technical snafu. And no, there was no owner change for SDS. That mess was with Secondskin.

Welcome to the IHoP
Even though I have read that the XC's are reliable I still bought it certified for more than 3 years and if it does anything weird we won't keep it past that time. Sure it is WAY cheaper than the ML though, lol.

Welcome to the IHoP
The 5 is supposed to be terrible in the XC90 as well.

Welcome to the IHoP
We have an XC90, but I know nothing about the V70's. They look pretty sweet though.

for sale thread/section on SSA
What is your actual beef? I just don't get it. If you look today there are a whopping 5 posts in the whole classified forum. By the time you are on page three you are already 9 days ago. It isn't really like there is much going on. EVERY single thread that goes in I at least read the title and there really just aren't that many. If you had 4 categories we'd have 5 threads a week in each which IMO would make them much worse. What do you want to accomplish? That being said, I like the idea of a SOLD sign/button, but we are at the liberty of the forum software and that may be very far from trivial.

OEM int. and Amp SQ ?'s
Stop citing your birthsheet. No one cares. You CAN'T hear the difference if it birthed at 1300 or 1800 anyway. You don't want all out SQ. Stop with the useless threads and give us some real information instead of terminology you don't understand.

HIGH END sq equipment ?'s
Please do not make another thread until you read. Two sets of comps and SQ does not compute. The 360.2 and low noise doesn't work. CDT and sound great is a joke.

help with Crown XLS 2000
the box is small, it is like 18x18x18, a cube. loud though, and my amp is set to bridge mono on lowpass mode crossed as 59hz. the dayton site has no box dementions, and im pretty shure the clip indicator is good because i hear no audible distortion untill the clip indicator is pretty much solid. under that its very clean. You'd be lucky to hear 10% distortion on a sub and no the clip indicators aren't good. So far you are heading for disaster if you keep on your route. On top of that it is a clever way to make a nice sounding sub sound like hell. Try a new box and be careful with it.

There are alot of Q vs Bl but I need help too
Ouch. Sounds like for the wrong reasons. Perhaps it isn't too late to change.

You are definitely a BL buyer and not a Q buyer.

for sale thread/section on SSA
I completely am against splitting up the classified section. Bundled threads are always better. The "sold" button idea I love but am not sure the board software would support that. easy to send a note to one of us to close something though

SQ 18's ?'s Bring EXP
Not what your thread says. Read the noob posting guidelines, you are butchering the terminology. On top of that if you understood what you are seeing in WinISD your questions are answered.

enclosure thickness
Because then you deal with the complications of internal bracing? Yes, there are adverse affects. I NEVER use internal bracing. Why? I'm sure bracing in an acoustic suspension enclosure, a 4th order, or a 4th order bandpass wouldn't hurt. Wherever there is air flow, it causes problems. Perfect example (and not the only case), in my S10 I did no internal bracing and made the box 5.25" thick except for the baffle which was 6" thick. If you put ANYTHING in that box, score dropped. I left a drill in the box once and lost over 1 dB. In other smaller box applications, I've heard turbulence from bracing as well. Depending how your brace is, I could see it causing a problem with phase or standing waves. The only bracing I'd deem usable is thick threaded rod. Don't assume everyone is concerned about a "score". Acoustic reproduction might just hit the list as important... While they may not be concerned with a specific number, if they want "loud", that's a "score". Loud is loud, whether it be an ear or a meter. The same way you make a daily system loud, you make it loud for a meter. Your acoustic reproduction won't be accurate if you have turbulence and audible noise from it. Standing waves will give dips or spikes in response, a direct relationship to accurate reproduction. The OP asked about good enclosures not loud ones. There are a ton of people that don't care about loud at all, reference levels perhaps, but loud has connotations that are all negative IMO. If you said linear, flat, capability to blend or something sure, but loud not so much. As for your acoustic reproduction comments, true if you have audible noises it will take away from it but flexing panels will cause way worse distortion than any bracing techniques. Bracing will also help to stop standing waves and alter the inner shape of the box to a less symmetric rectangle which is also of benefit but of course we are discussing subs here which play sounds with LONG wavelengths.

Bought a new house...
Congratulations! And while I love going to HQ in Germany, coming home REALLY feels good.

Sub listening get-togethers?
FL is definitely right at the top when it comes to people putting horribly ridiculous garbage in their cars with a focus on being loud. Some good installs and a ton of crap. Not a terrible idea for the OP although being install is 80% of the battle depending on goals you may not get out of the listening what you think you will.
