Am I scared of germs? No, but will I take reasonable precautions, good practices, etc? Yep, I sure will. Then don't cut chix on wood even if I keep my wood boards in good condition and oiled and then wash after? I have always used wood for everything. I only started using plastic for the wife. Can you cut any meat on wood? Can? Yes, should you? No. Just throw a liner on top of it Worth the $2

Does not include wear and tear and depreciation which greatly change things. I think the government has the depreciation/wear/gas rate set at around $0.55/mile right now which is based on average cars. Don't fool yourself too much that you are saving vs flying.

I don't really remember when I read those threads, someone else going through the same toils might have better suggestions.

You got me there.... Not going to try that. To clarify, I am not scared of germs either. I cut as much as possible on wood for 2 reasons. 1 it is faster and the little extra bonus reason is that it is better on your knives. All fish, poultry and usually meat gets taken down on a liner. Someone asked for a link before, I don't usually buy these here but these work just fine: http://compare.ebay.com/like/220440919903?ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&rvr_id=179991139039&crlp=1_263602_304662&UA=%3F*F%3F&GUID=2ba1d21a12c0a0e203e7cf67ff9e9b59&itemid=220440919903&ff4=263602_304662
  5. Thank you As for helping it is tough. In that price range it is really best to listen as everyone has different tastes and they will all have things someone really likes or doesn't.

Let me summarize for you: Boner heads like what they have and think it is the best because they have it. Intelligent guys want something other than a stupid opinion. Blues Boners not capable of providing anything, so they resort to more opinionated nonsense while showing how little they know about stereo stuff along the way. Real information is asked for well knowing the answer already....amusing the boners don't. How it ends? Information is never given, everyone thinks the subjective guys are stupid and the drivers suck. Really too bad as this is their opportunity to really promote the drivers the right way...assuming they are worth even a small percentage of their price.

Its a good book, but has A LOT of math. You don't "need" to follow it, but it is super helpful. More of a textbook for a college class than casual reading book. Expect headaches and understanding
  8. I am curious as to how high the HP can be set on the tweet and the low and high limits of the bandpass...
  9. SLS in doors and midrange going in kicks? First I'd recommend a midrange that can play higher. After your experience with 3's I am hesitant to recommend a 4"er but really feel that is the sweet spot for driver size in a 3 way. Considering you didn't like the transition between the midbass and 3" though they might not dig deep enough for you. I do think they would. Those 5's don't really cut the mustard to yield the benefit of a 3 way IMO. I'd also think of bandpassing the SLS and new midrange together. Use the amp to cross between (assuming the mounting locations above). You can then use the T/A better and voice based on the midranges completely. I'd pick the mid first. Then depending the tweeter could be a very cost effective tweet if you can get a mid to play the range you want it to. The Tang W4 and CSS drivers are both respectable for your price bracket. I am sure there are others as I haven't really looked at 4's lately. Take a peak and see what you think.
  10. Why would you share a box with a subwoofer and a midrange???
  11. Plans on going from a 3" to something larger? Considering your trouble with them I might think hard about it. To play high those three's really need to be on axis. Also curious as to the crossover choices on your headunit. I don't recall what they are anymore. Reason I ask is that choosing drivers that are next to each other is always a good idea when sharing Thanks for making a good thread, glad to see there are people out there that respect the forum

what airport are you flying from? RIC - Richmond, VA. Flying into Minneapolis to try and save some money. I could save more if I flew out of Dulles or National up by DC but that really is not an option to me. Dulles is normally around $400 round trip, not sure what Christmas does to it nor have I flown to Richmond. Good luck!
  13. Missed completely what I was asking. What did listening tell him to change specifically in the drivers and how did he determine it by listening.
  14. Ah, that isn't much of a difference definitely can be noticeable. You can try the poly, it won't cost you anything and could be beneficial, just don't overstuff.
  15. Sounds like you should spend some time with your eq & crossover settings.

And you can point at Manning Of course it doesn't help to not have a running game and losing important targets.

Jiant Dick? You need to work on your spelling. JD=John Deere tractor Aidan's first two syllable word was tractor and they are all green here...unless I buy some retro Minneapolis-Moline gear

I wish. I really don't medicate ever so this is a bit foreign to me, but damnit I hate not breathing
  22. The ONLY way to do it logically is midbass + horns anything extra will just be a mess. VERY install specific, it all depends on what room you have and where you are putting them.

Stuck between wanting to take an antihistamine to dry me up and mucinex to loosen me up. Taking turns. My body is confused. Doing both at the same time is probably like taking heroin and crystal meth and will cancel each other out.
