Welcome to the IHoP
Er'....its a gift for me, so I am trying not to be to picky. My logic is get the craptastic block set I have now replaced for everyday use. Then I will invest in my own 10+" Chefs knife for when I am in the kitchen. This will keep the kids off my knifes. understood. My wife and roomate don't use my knives unless I hand it to them actually. I do appreciate the advice, don't think it was in vein. I now have something to set my sites on for personal knifes. Sounds like it should be well thought out purchase. I also want a wood cutting board but the W keeps telling me the wood will hold germs. I have a glass one now. Ugh, you are killing your knives Throw the glass away. Buy a wood board and then buy cheap as poly sheets to use on top of it for flesh. Wood is SO MUCH faster you'll be shocked. It cuts my prep time down in half.

Then I will invest in my own 10+" Chefs knife for when I am in the kitchen. This will keep the kids off my knifes. Why do you want your kids to use shitty dull knives? That is WAY more dangerous. Really NO ONE EVER should be a knife set. There is no way in hell it is the right choice for anyone. Installation is the key in stereos, fit is the key in knives. No two people cut the same. Don't be dumb. Take the same budget and buy a Chef's knife. REALLY. A paring knife is a nice addition, but can be had cheap. I would argue that too sharp a paring knife makes them harder to use. I like to use my thumb as a knife stop and for that reason find myself using the one with the inferior edge on it, but it does fit my hands well.

Welcome to the IHoP
Thanks for the pics. Sweet knifes!! I wonder how the one sided blades would work for a leftie? The W and I are both southpaws. I am very interested in the sashimi knife. How long is this one, and how much longer would you buy? Right now I am working with a super cheap block set. I generally use the 8" chef knife for protiens, and have started trying out the 7" santoku for veggies. I have to sharpen constantly. At this point I think the best thing to do is buy a decent block set, and then buy a few specialty knifes. I know you guys will discourage buying a set, but I think I should start by getting the knifes everybody in the house uses up to par first. I am sure this will only wary my ignorace and force me to buy a nicer personal knife or two. With that being said, I will find a decent block set that has forged blades and handles I like, and is in my price range. Then go from there. Long seems to be the motto for the workhorse knifes. Thanks again for the advice. A set is a completely terrible idea. For 95% of my cutting I use ONE knife. The rest is detail work. If you truly think you need a set then you should take a knife skills class; otherwise, buy a chef's knife that fits you well and when you find out what you don't like to cut with it buy accessory knives.

Then you know what to do: multiple comp sets will not get you there

(2) Kicker 12" L7 vs Q18
Seriously??? 26-32Hz??? NO. Not for those. He should tune higher. I am really getting perturbed at all these nonsensical recommendations to people based on hype and non-understanding

Your cutting board is WAY too small. Remind me when I am home to take a picture of my knife collection

Exactly and that is ONLY 2 mids and 2 tweets and will DESTROY your front stage even if you double it. Add to that it will sound WAY FUCKING BETTER. I also don't understand the idiotic more drivers is better mentality, it has always confused me just like they confuse the stage.

Only because they are, lol. I don't care about the parameters I just am sick of your nonsensical, irrational, subjective ridiculousness.

Overbooked flight, not due to seats but due to weight. LOL. They are asking for people to stay back. I better not sit next to a big ole fatty.

And obviously shouldn't fail. Just would suck if you had to eat that for a car that I paid less than the engine goes for.

Aaron, any leads on a Merc forum that might have info on the stereo/Nav in my truck? Have tried to search a few times and just find horror stories about mechanical things and not the info I want. The scariest being the $68,000 engine that is in the truck. Replaced by MB it is $75,000 including the $7k for labor. Luckily mine is fully warrantied with no deductible.

Drove blind (5' visibility) across the lake last year on my snowmobile and it must have been leaning. Shot straight and ended up nearly 5mi off course

Trunk deadner
Depends on what/why you are deadening your trunk. The only real bit of info I can give you is that ALL manufacturers EXCEPT SDS will mislead you when it comes to recommendations. Post what you want to do and Don will let you know what you need and why and it will work. Best choice by far.

For those that don't like wine, I would expect it is because you have been subjected to shit or things that don't work for your tastes. I've converted a lot of people, it just takes a bottle that works for them and preferably with the food. If what you had overpowered what you ate it shouldn't have been paired with what you were eating.

Nice reply Matt, funny it is the same sitting in LAX in mobile mode right now so no reply quotes

I don't hate you, its the internet that wouldn't get me very far. I do despise subjective emotional responses though. You claim it is easy to get through Ray, since that is in your camp and your interest go for it.

The Ken Shun Santoku is nice, although my problem is that I don't know what to use a 7" knife for. THE MOST important thing in any knife is that it is comfortable in your hand, second is the steel. You can sharpen anything, but obviously better blades take a better edge or keep it longer or both.

Yep, like Sams, but higher quality stuff. No, haven't tried the Gnarly. Will peak at it though

I am a huge Cab fan, by far my favorite grape. Malbec probably follows 2nd.

And realistically we all know the OP was actually trying to fishtail and have fun when he saw the water and succeeded in crashing. Trying to put the blame on someone else to financially cover his screw up.

Too rich for my blood. Basically I don't have a recommendation that is available in stores now and nearly gave up interest in finding one. Have tried at least 24 in the past two years at around the $20 price point and wouldn't buy any again. This includes ones that were rated highly and recommended by people I trust.

I don't actually buy them, just was recommending a cheap grape that is drinkable to the non-wine drinkers and acceptable to those that appreciate wine. The best one I've had isn't available here and I think I paid $0.70 for it in Chile. They will all be Chilean btw as the grape is no longer found anywhere else in the world. Anything around $10 should be fine and if you see a Reserva it will be even better. Good example is the Santa Rita. Excellent? No. Will it work for $10, yep.

A Carmenere is cheaper, as approachable, and not bad. I have a major love hate relationship with Pinot's. I HATE the fact that anything under $30 tastes like shit and I LOVE a good one. I flat out just don't buy them anymore, but they are regularly a grape we try to get down in the $20's for our wine tasting get togethers and they always fail.

I always sear steaks with bacon fat actually. Or doctored olive oil (ie add some butter )
