Watching it on the Spanish channel... much more entertaining The announcers are better which is easy to tell even when you don't speak Spanish.

Know anyone in an industry that would be looking to hire a co-op/ intern with a degree? Or any Bad ass companies looking for entry level engineers? Looks like I may not get into grad school until next fall if A&M doesn't come through . I'm fairly certain I can get my schooling paid for so I'd rather not commit myself to a company (like a real job) before grad school, unless its some crazy bad ass company, then I'm down... Not exactly, but could maybe help point you in a direction. Any particular areas you'd like to live?
  4. Amusingly the 9887 also has Burr Brown btw. My point still stands though, compare a modern D/A with the Burr Brown while you are driving down the road and you won't notice. I never said they won't sound different, but once setup the "better" won't be that obvious. With crappy mounting locations L/R eq can be a HUGE benefit. WAY more than a good D/A compared to a great one.

    Thanks Aaron.

  7. Availability is a huge one. WAY more quality drivers built in the large format. A low Fs comes much cheaper as well. Both HUGE in the world of car audio IMO. So what large format tweets would you recommend? Depends on your goals, budget, processing, mounting locations, and skill.
  8. If you can live with the glide touch there is no reason to change. You also cannot use either the Bass Engine Pro or Imprint with your 4x6's anyways. A single set of mids and tweeters on the other hand will GREATLY improve what you have for sound.
  9. Exactly, I really hate it when noobs try to say otherwise. my bad.. I just figured if you were playing a BL to its full potential it would be louder than a BTL that isn't getting pushed so hard. You figured wrong. If you give the BL 1 watt and the BTL 1 watt, the BTL WILL be louder. No matter how you scale that 1w this will be the case. The BTL is a louder driver than the BL. *assuming an "ideal" or similarly designed box for each driver of course*
  10. Not on the door, but something that you can use to simulate the location. ie build something you can place as close as possible and yes, try different volumes. Start with ideal and then see how the response is, depending on what you don't like adjust from there. Personally I'd build it too large and keep shrinking it as this is much easier than the other way around
  11. For the great majority of users of an in car setup the D/A difference will be non-existent. The real question is will you benefit from independent L/R eq? Your mounting locations will help determine the answer to that question.
  12. I'd also add that if I could fit a large format tweet (which if you do kicks should be easy) I wouldn't even think of the H1396. Great tweeter for what it is, but again there are many better choices depending on your needs.
  13. That seems counter intuitive. The good old school amps weren't cutting corners like today and were surely happy at loads under 8 ohms. Either way on a sub there is NO WAY that you are going to hear a difference anyways. The amount of distortion you can sustain before your ear can hear it at low frequencies is disgusting. I would also bet that this is partly the problem the OP has. In his previous setup he ran it into distortion creating a sense of loudness, the Dcon's it sounds like aren't setup in his box to do that which can surely make it seem to be quieter.
  14. I've heard of people getting better results with Imprint than on their own, but those people weren't capable of doing it on their own. My own experience was that it was terrible.
  15. Midbasses don't work with tweeters unless you have a midrange...
  16. I would highly recommend trying a test enclosure first as you will have to dial in the real volume and the easy way to do that in car and be dead nuts on is a lot of trial and error.

I don't know anyone in that industry, sorry.

Never heard of Zoot's, but once you find some that fit you well and are comfy it is worth sticking with them. MANY people end up not wearing $100 shorts they buy as they don't fit them right. Izumi Elites are what my body likes, but yours may be different. Just like when you fit a bike, there are tricks, but comfort is key. Get what feels good to you. Personally I will never buy a new pair of shorts over the internet as I can guess how they'll feel by putting them on. I do have some cheap Novara ones, but they are MTB style so that if I go to a bar people think they are just shorts.

WHat are you using for the streaming and do you have to pay for it?
  22. They take ONE electronic component, put it in a housing, and sell it for 10-100x what that component costs. Nothing hard about just buying said component instead.
  23. I wouldn't condone it if I were you either, but the problem isn't in the software it is in the user. If you think you can hit the "easy" button and have it "design" the enclosure for you, you are wrong. You have to understand your goals, the environment, but most importantly what the software tells you. Your analogy is perfect here. Just like a sub is dumb and it will do what you tell it, so is the software. It will do the EXACT calculation you tell it to do. If you mis-direct it your results will be poor. Shizzon's problem is obviously not at all understanding the software, the variables and his inputs.
  24. I calculated the amount of room I have and the volume seems to work. I was going to port them but didn't have enough volume. What volume do you have? How did you choose what volume you thought you needed?
  25. Exactly, I really hate it when noobs try to say otherwise.
