IMO an active crossover NEEDS selectable slopes, is better with phase control (easier than doing it manually), digital selectability of the cross point, and of course goodies like eq and t/a don't hurt either but could surely be independent.

No worries, just wanted to make sure you gave your mids room to breath. Most people don't when they do kicks which regularly can defeat all the positives you could possible have by running your drivers there. Now we just need to convert you to running active.

Corriher On Food on Cooking: The Science and Lore of the Kitchen by Harold McGee Neither are really cookbooks per se, not that they don't include recipes, but more importantly show lessons on why what happens when you do what. Shirley's book is probably an easier first read, but expect years to absorb it all. Outstanding reads IMO. The Faital w8n8 series drivers would be the other I'd add to Impious's list. For fidelity I'd probably lean on the 18S or B&C. The hard part is the trade off for midbass which is of course how you started the thread. None of the above will do anything below 80Hz worth talking about and really are probably rolled off a bit by then. You'll be shocked at how well they do the rest though. IIRC the JBL's are actually a bit smaller than an 8 as well. Supposed to be great drivers, but those and the 18Sound I haven't seen.

Dude is making serious progress downstairs. Old cabinets are cut, power is run, 220v now in garage, rewired the fan. Next step I hope is cutting the granite, can't wait to be able to plop the cooktop down in its new slot. And yes, I will post pics when its finished including some along the way.

Where/how do you get enough bacon grease to cook 9lbs of fries?? :drools: mom and pastor save thier's, and we save our's.... keep in mind, breakfast here, typically feeds 12 to 15! 3 lbs. easy.... i do use shortning some times to bring the level back up if it is low..... i think we did 5 batches totall ...... on smaller dinners.... we do curly fries we feed 17 of us today, lol....ftw! Do you filter the grease anyway? How long do you have to collect to get enough to make french fries? **I definitely keep bacon grease, but the bacon I buy doesn't seem to render that much out so it seemingly would take forever** Only one fat I like better than bacon fat and that is duck fat, but I eat more bacon than duck
