And it will be far over-priced. $699 is what I heard. Was originally going to be $900. Yep, either way overpriced. Scrap the amps and give me more control and I'd be interested.

Sounds like you despise a poor speaker. It isn't the programs fault. I love me some powerpoint as it is so much easier to make a point with animations than to just statically have bullshit. Powerpoint should NOT be used for text. Quite on the contrary Sean. I more than enjoy a good speaker. But these people just read off the slides, add a tiny bit here and there and open for questions. They RARELY add in extra comments or anything of substance. Plus most of the topics they are 'teaching' are things I have gone over and even had the pleasure of teaching before myself. J Then they ARE NOT good speakers. So you despise a poor speaker. Not sure how that was contrary, sounds like you just stated exactly what I did. Except you blamed the powerpoint I blame the person giving it.
  3. They are heavy. Door hinges won't be happy. They'll be good enough IB. There are 8" drivers that could work as well NCSU. Depends on your space. Swallowing a driver that size is not trivial.
  4. Tons of things. Processing for starters. WHICH car they will ACTUALLY go in. Listening preferences and the WHOLE other list of items in the noob posting guidelines. (copy in my sig)
  5. If you ever sell them let me know. PM me where you found them if you will, I might have need for some of the 12's fairly soon.
  6. Good setup for what??? Normally this wouldn't be enough information to say, but running two midranges is definitely a bad idea. I also don't like that tweeter. So no. Bad idea. Give us some background so we can actually help though.
  7. Did you reinforce the q-logics or vent them into the fender? If not, I'd start there.
  8. Not at all. Cheap ones sure, but don't fault the topology for manufacturers fucking it up.

  10. PLEASE NOTE, by no means am I implying that electronics can make up for an install. An install will always trump electronics, but it was a compromise I made. Partially to be lazy and get it done in a weekend and partly because I didn't expect to ever hardly drive the truck.
  11. Getting rid of both of my rides. Currently all my stuff is in the basement. A build will come, but it will be a while. My next build will be in a 70's Pantera and it will get a full custom dash to really nail down what it is supposed to do. I need some time to save up some money though so it will be a year or two. In the interim, I am going to focus on home audio. I only drive 5-10k miles a year now. (used to drive 70k) Considering it is almost always back and forth to the airport a "system" isn't something I need atm. Instead I really just need good phone integration as managing sales people I spend all my driving time on the phone anyways. As for the $1500, it really wasn't that hard. Nothing in my install was very expensive to begin with and everything was used except the h/u which was $300 of it and included ALL the required processing. You asked earlier about my tweeter locations. I would NEVER have run them there without independent L/R eq. Completely necessary. Hell IMO it is pretty necessary even with optimal mounting as there is no such thing as equal PLD and equal reflections in a vehicle.
  12. WOW Sean, I don't know if I could find a BADDER midbass if I tryed. I had been looking pretty hard at the Vifa NE225w-04 8" and its 10" big brother, But this Aura is a beast. I found a store with these Aura's in stock and I WILL buy them TODAY if you tell me I am not going to find anything even close to better for my SQ APP. with the full range 3"-4" driver? YES I am a young bull and could spend years looking at drivers and still miss the mark. Thanks for your time Sean. I've seen the 12" version of that play nicely beyond 1kHz. Sure you'll get some beaming at those frequencies, but in your case you won't have to. They will take some power to get moving, but are GREAT woofers. You could surely match them with horns, but in your case with a 3" you'll be able to really play with the crossover frequencies to really pick what works right. FYI, they should be around $150 ea. Not sure what that store is selling them for.

Tons of good headphones, don't pick a company pick a set that does what you need.
  14. If you find some of these, can fit them, and give them enough power you'll be more than happy. Aurasound NS10-513-4A 10" Subwoofer NLA from Madisound Not sure when Aura is going to re-release them though so used it would have to be atm.

Harman International spring 2010 lineup - Engadget Galleries WOW. 3 years later it EXISTS!!!
  17. Is it acceptable to raise the crossover frequency of your sub and pull that part of the stage back to give you the kick drum feel and some wicked mids up front? The reason I ask is that you will have to sacrifice somewhere. Either you have the output you desire and you cross your sub higher, or you have an unbelievable stage. Everything is a compromise. You could with either though have a couple different eq setups for different listening volumes, but you'll need a crossover that will let you store multiple crossover points then as well. I am stuck in offering up a pro audio midrange that will blend great with the horns, or a subwoofer for an 8" which will blend well with the 50hz subs. Of course if you are willing to put a 10lb driver up front and put a ton of power on it you can have both. In that range though, my choice would actually be a 10". What do you think?

You watch the stuffed french toast throwdown?
  20. I believe 7th, think mine is 5th. I wouldn't save $3, but I have seen used earlier additions for less than $20.

looks happy. where have you been keeping it?
  22. Any. Just realize the older the cheaper. The math and ideas are all the same. *I've never held a first edition, but 3rd and beyond I know covers more than you'll absorb in a sitting or 10
  23. How are you crossing the Mach5's and the ID set now???
  24. You've read before on here that you can just pick up Vance Dickason's Loudspeaker Design Cookbook and you will have "all" the good info, but that I guess you already knew. Great book. Read it cover to cover many times. Have it on my desk at work right now. Problem is that it is too technical for most people. They just want to know how it is done, not why it is done that way My guess - that is why all of these "close enough" estimates came to be. . . Brian The next thing to get purchase on my car audio agenda, I need this book. Don't be afraid of an older version. The updates aren't worth extra. I doubt you'll ever build any of his speaker plans which have been added (and would even say you shouldn't).

It will require you to think though, which of course is exactly what I would consider the "good info". If all you want are shortcuts, then you might as well never design anything yourself anyways.
