whats your 9 to 5?
Cool. Just noticed you are into SHO's. I've had 3 including a Vadim built to the hilt car. yep I have a 93 Gen II. I've done the 3.2 swap Big Bore Secondary butterfly, ported heads, extrusion honed intakes (both 1st and 2nd intakes) and full 1 off 2.5 inch exaust from the block to the back bumper. Other than that shes all stock its fun to pick on Z28's, transam's and C4 vetts. They never see you coming in and old 1993 ford Taurus. How much did you have wraped up in your built up SHO and what gen was it? Previous owner spent $26k on it. One of the first 92's Vadim went nuts on. Springs, shocks, sways, crossover, exhaust, displacement bored to 3.4L, stage II cam, injectors, ported heads, extrude honed intake, custom tune, quaiffe diff, and I know I am forgetting something. The car was retired in 1998 when the engine finally went, had it towed to a shop and the tow truck totaled it in the process. Convenient timing as their insurance paid for it and I was able to part it out. Still have the Powerdyne in my basement though just waiting for another project car. Amusingly I bought it for $10k a month after it was built, the guy who had it done couldn't get his valet's to start it as if she didn't fire on the first revolution she'd flood. All you had to do was step to the floor and it would roar to life, but they couldn't figure that out. Considering he was paying $800 a month to park it living in Chicago it wasn't like the money mattered to him. Thing was fast as hell and when not traction limited would stick with anything on the Chicago freeways.

New Head Unit
I'd look for one with an interface for the iPod that YOU like. Generically speaking I am a fan of Pioneer, Alpine & Eclipse although for your needs pretty much any real brand would do. The separation between units these days isn't so extreme and you could actually probably even shrink your budget unless you are looking for specific crossover or EQ capability.

Welcome to the IHoP
I exagerate, it's not the worste interior on the face of the earth. As for the outside... I'm not loving it, but it's not as ugly as some. I think it's a cool car, I would take a benz over it though. Even though the M is reported to be faster. I am much more scared mechanically of the benz, but don't want either without a warranty. I get the feeling you have been around a few that have been worse then the norm. All the ones in and around my family have not had any major mechanical issues. It has pretty much all been wear and tear / preventative maintenance that I know of. Then again, the majority of them are older and have all been trusty tanks. I need a valve cover gasket replaced, but I expect that after 177k. Definitely worse, but also in the "glory" years. You also have one that doesn't have so much to go wrong compared to the new ones. BMW had the same growing pains when they went all automated. Amusingly the Japanese are now having those struggles, they came into the game later and so their failures are later but it is good to see. This is one spot where the American manufacturers have done it right, let the others deal with the crap first and then add. My biggest problem historically with Benz is that every failure is expensive, while with BMW the parts are uber cheap (again not the new ones). Then we get into the modern era where they both have huge failure rates and I wouldn't want one without a warranty. I am also frightened by Porsche. I'd like a Cayenne Turbo S but that means 2006 and only warranty for 2 out of 3 years in my lease. If anything breaks it will be my responsibility. The air suspension and Turbo's I am not confident in making it through our weather and with the replacement price rather scared if they don't. The GTS solves the Turbo issue but is too damn expensive and rather slow in comparison. Of course a 550i fits the spending category, but can't tow my boat. Trying to see if an X6 will work although I have hugely mixed feelings as when they came out I thought they were super ugly, but the more I see them the more that my mind changes. The BM'er I'd want certified, the Turbo S I'd hope to want to buy out at the end of the lease but am unsure I'll ever want a car for more than 3 years. Work would lease the first 3 and then I could buy it out at its depreciated price (if it were a good deal and mechanically logical). I suppose first step is to sell the truck, but without a certainty on what I want to replace it with I hesitate.

AQ2000d vs MB Quart DSC-2000.1D
Going from 1400w of Sundown power to 2000w of brand-x generic won't yield you any audible gains and will cost you reliability and support. Not worth it; what you are calling an upgrade, I'd call a downgrade.

Need help building a box for subwoofer without Specifications
Guessing won't help. You need to tell us what acoustically is wrong with the current box. *that isn't stuffing, that is lining and IS appropriate for a ported box

AQ2000d vs MB Quart DSC-2000.1D
Maxxsonics has killed MB IMO and I'd also never buy an AQ. If you are truly budget limited, I'd shop used.

mm..steak sounds fricken amazing I had steak tonite, mmmmmmmmmm good! Ribeye is the best steak to me for some reason, I like them all but prefer a Ribeye. ribeye is very good, had that a couple weeks ago why dont you just eat filet minon rich ass Normally what I buy, but it isn't like its expensive. I buy whole tenderloins at Costco (regularly $5-7/lb) and if you cut 8oz steaks that means you are eating $2.50-$3.50 for your cut and that is cheaper than a Big Mac (I think, haven't eaten fast food in a long while)

I managed to get the only 3 winter days so far this year in Laguna. I seem to be good at that, next year I am going to push my damnedest to do the kickoff in the mountains

I am sick of trading two different cars all the time, going to keep one and rotate the daily. Much more logical.

I've always pulled fresh wires, just way easier to remove things when the time comes to sell and it isn't really much extra effort. I'll probably never add a sub to a car again anyway, front stage sure, but only if "necessary". And of course the Pantera will get a sub. Why is that an "of course"? Trying to be hip? It's an of course since once owned I will never sell it. Ever.
