Saw there were places in northern Minnesota that were around -20 today. So it was probably like -30 in Canada. That is absurd. I've never even felt -10 before I don't think. I have in Cleveland Michigan when I was younger and you talking about cold as balls. The whole car ride there was no heat period, never again will I go up North in the winter. Ah, shit you get used to it. Just like over a hundred in the summer. A few days of it per year is no big deal and actually makes the 90 deg days seem just fine. The relative whopping of the body helps. A few days of oh shit its fucking cold isn't a big deal. Unlike heat you can actually dress for it too. Shit last Friday I rode my snowmobile for 6 hours and it was -15F without windchill and it isn't like I drive slow. Bullshit. I've been in it for 30 years, and anything below 60, I freeze. Fuck the cold, fuck the snow, and fuck the bitch!!!!!!!!!!!!! I grew up in Fargo, moved to Chicago for two years and never wore anything more than a sport coat. You get used to it. Hell I was outside in 10deg with a little headband, a pair of ultra thin zip off camping pants, my hiking boots, and some jersey gloves cutting wood for two hours this week.
  2. Depends on the hinge and of course the car. That is sort of like asking how much power a sub can take without saying what kind of sub or installation.

Not what you said, but what he did. Damn curious if I am wrong though.

  6. Is there any golden rule to follow to get the best installation in a particular vehicle or is it just lots and lots of testing? I have heard sub up and port back in SUVs and wagons, but not really anything else. The golden rule is all sorts of math you need really sophisticated software to decipher including a decent model of the space. So for the normal 'user' nothing is golden. Lots of generalizations and some work sometimes.
  7. Agreed. And definitely make sure you choose the right specs to compare with and not what some marketing people are promoting.
  8. Not really. Its all in the install. As for which is louder, it isn't the size of the car but more the specific vehicle and again the installation. For instance CRX's are notorious for getting loud, Explorers are as well. Both more so than other vehicles that are nearly the same size. The correct combination of acoustic resonance, panel resonance, and location for installation is huge. VERY, VERY install dependent. In other words, the answer isn't small car or big car but it depends. And the depends isn't just one variable, but many.
  9. Sort of like the pot calling the kettle black. If you want me to go there I will. I am biased. Ant is doing everything in his political power to make sure he is the only supplier on the internet. This includes giving people bad advice, selling product for applications it isn't suited for, buying web forums and hiding behind them as sources to promote his product, as well as being generally not interested at all in the state of this forum even though this section is "his". Don from SDS on the other hand has always helped (even though he has no forum here), will not recommend product that isn't suited for the job, markets appropriate solutions and is generally a great guy. Add to the fact that he basically taught Ant a good portion of what he knows which Ant has proven he can't digest completely and yes you can say that I am biased. I am also biased for another reason. I happen to work in the industry that does material testing for the manufacturers for all deadener products for OEM installations, which sort of gives you a fundamental understanding and background relating to deadener and acoustic based products. Having a degree in Physics with a concentration in Acoustics doesn't hurt either. KickinAudio's bias is different. His is based on friendship. Go ahead and choose, take the reference from someone's friend or based on a bias that has developed due to the behavior of the person/company being discussed. I know which one is more valuable to me.

Leftover prime rib here, surprised there is any but I stopped after a pound. Didn't "need" to, but figured it would be better.

My prime rib as well. Best one I've ever made. Ultra consistently done the stoker? Yep, awesome finish even at -15F, lol

  13. Dangerous statement. It is all about how you set the gains. Just an FYI. Going from their rated 600wrms to a 750wrms amplifier will gain you NO audible output increase. To your ears they will be equally as loud. No reason to put more than a SAZ-1500 on them and even then you should set your gains the right way for the drivers in the enclosures that they are in.
  14. Neither. SDS is where I'd shop. Link in my signature. Best bang for the buck and best advice as well.

-10F feels like -22F, but it isn't windy and we are supposed to get some
  17. The tweeters are going to be significantly louder than the Mli's. It would therefore be not a good move to do two...

You've got to mix the starches cold first

Game was so bad, I am playing catchup on the Next Iron Chef that is DVR'd.
  20. If you are running passive then you won't use the crossovers anyway...
  21. You aren't coherent. Two different things. Judging and reality are NOT the same.

My prime rib as well. Best one I've ever made. Ultra consistently done
  23. And potential box size.
  24. ///M5 replied to mrray13's topic in Off Topic
Yep, and they guaranteed the Vikes at least one home game
  25. If you are using the amp for a crossover even temporarily I'd REALLY want as many slope choices as possible.
