All this L7 bashing I find funny. It really is a great sub as well, just happens to be mainstream. I am an SQ guy, but yet still chose to put one of these in my sisters boat (gift) and not only is it really fucking loud it sounds pretty damn good doing it. The box is far from ideal for my listening style, but that wasn't the point. For the OP the L7 would be a WAY better choice than the Q. Personally I haven't compared one with the BL so I can't comment, but I'd bet that everyone who responded above me couldn't either.

Then you are going to sacrifice A LOT of output. There is nothing that will do what you want. Plenty of great sounding subs that get loud, but a true SQ beast nope. You are misapplying the term SQ though, so don't worry about the Xcon will do more than you need in that regard.

It depends on where you are going here. You asked for SQ which we don't like on the forum because it isn't very descriptive to your definition. If that is truly your goal, then I wouldn't buy a 6 channel amplifier as the most important thing in an amplifier for an SQ install is power. The more the better. Spend as much as you can to get an amp with some balls, the headroom will pay dividends. Also on the whole crossover thing. You CANNOT have an effective 3 way front stage using the crossovers on an amplifier. You are going to need an offboard processor. -as an aside, if SQ is truly your goal you should spend WAY more time and money worrying about the install of the drivers than anything else in the system. The amps are the easy part.

I wouldn't expect the non-Premier Pioneers to be worth it. I have no experience with those, but would be there is a reason they are cheap.

My brother keeps saying that too, who knows I'd agree with the pre-V engine nonsense. Anything straight or diesel and they are great. Perhaps this time you should find an E28. If you liked the way the E34 drove, you'll love the E28. In particular in the 535 variety.
