Surprised how much bigger the i5 is.
  3. That's exactly why it shouldn't be used. Well by that logic neither should loud. What's loud to me may not be loud to you. Can you answer me this please, why does it bother you so much how somebody chooses to describe their system, be it loud, sq, spl or "SQL"? If SQ was so cut and dry, there would be no need to have multiple judges at SQ shows, but obviously what sounds good to one guy doesn't sound good to the next. I think there are more things to lose sleep over compared to whether or not somebody is using the SUBJECTIVE term "SQL" properly. Keyword: SUBJECTIVE Stop being thick. The problem is VERY simple. Poster A says, I need a sub and some components I want an SQL system. This gives us NO information to help him as his definition is different than what everyone else would define it as. You can apply this to SQ as well. And even though SPL is NOT subjective it gets screwed up in usage as well. Someone wants a loud setup and says, I want an SPL setup but I won't compete. Obviously to maximize your output you are going to end up with a one note wonder tuned to an area that will suck for music. 99.9% of people who ask for that on a forum don't want it. If a full description of what a poster wants is included then the terms could be used, but since they never add anything of value to a thread we look down upon them being in a thread.
  4. More verbal diarrhea Stop it. An RTA can't do jack shit for SQ and IMO aren't even useful for setting up your system. Amusing since through work I have access to one of the best ones in the world, but no interest in "using" it to tune my cars FR.

  7. But if the numbers aren't real why bother? If you were to just go and buy the "right" test equipment for this it would easily surpass $100k. Sure there are brew your own ways, but in general anything outside of real Test & Measurement gear will net you less than realistic results.
  8. Exactly why you shouldn't use a term when you don't even know the definition Everyone else also misuses it equally which is why we really don't like the term.
  9. No such thing as back stage or sub stage as there is only a stage in the front. Front stage and sub/s.

No small penis syndrome here. Music is for me, I don't feel the need to falsely inflate my manhood by pissing off other people.

It just keeps piling down here. We're up to about 6" now. Going to have to fire up the snowblower for the first time this year tomorrow AM. Most of the snow here melted over the past couple days due to the rain, but it will soon be back I'm visiting the fam south of Buffalo, NY and we have the same shit. Was supposed to rain/freezing rain/sleet/snow on the 26th.............we get just rain. Wife is dissapointed as she wanted hella more snow. May need to take her to the ski lodges. J Come visit, nearly 2ft in my yard from the past 5 days.

Definitely. No desire for the Turbo woes, and the 6 is well, a 6. The 8 does about as well on gas and is a hell of a lot of fun, in particular for a womans car. How is it mounted? Transversely? I know they use the Haldex AWD and they FWD biased, so I'm wondering if they still flip the engine. She is still sideways. I believe it is really an S80 with a bigger cab. Definitely a crossover, but with a hell of a lot of utility.
  13. i agree. it shouldnt have to be black and white. everyone looks at it like there should be no shades of grey. i prefer spl subs, with sq mids and highs... and i feel like whenever i mention this, people think im committing a crime. EDIT: and when i say sound quality, i dont mean the rediculous measures some people on these forums go to just to make the sound quality a tiny bit better. i mean mids and highs that were designed for sq. im not really that educated on mids and highs, nor have i been exposed to much in person, but the mids and highs that i heard that just get really loud, that have similar sound quality to a stock door speaker, i cant stand those. This isn't about what you like it is about mis-using a term. I think you are also misapplying SPL as well though as I'd bet you wouldn't (and couldn't) have an SPL bass setup with your "SQ" front stage. I'd also bet that what you call and SQ front stage isn't anywhere near the category. You are trying to fit into some ideal parameters to make yourself feel like you fit. Don't, instead just like what you like and describe how it is. BTW an SQ front stage by definition has midbass that is of the same level as the subs...
  14. Well its not as stupid as using the term "nooblets" which makes just as much since as mashing acronyms like ""SQL"". real men use the term "noob". dont hate. What if you are a bigger noob than a noob? Cause these people are worse.

link???? i got me a 13" all clad fry pan. I needed somehing larger than my cast iron pans and my wife cannot lift those anyway. I'm amped to try it out. http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/product/KPRA My pans make the All Clad's feel really light btw.

used the pasta roller that the w gave me for Christmas tonight. HOLY SHIT is it better than anything fresh, frozen or dried you can buy. Works SO MUCH FUCKING better than my extruder as well. Extruding at home just isn't worth the effort, this though was unbelievable. Salt, Pepper, and Olive Oil and your money. To make things more fun I added some Parm Reggiano, sundried tomatoes, capers, and some fresh herbs. I hate pasta normally and loved this. Totally psyched. I was just too cheap to plop a hundo on a roller before.

Thanks I'll keep those in mind. Nice, I couldn't spring for the i7 right now, I think this will give me the performance I need though. My power supply isn't really bad it is however on the lower end of recommended requirements, it is an antec 500W. http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817103937 the system will consist of Core i5 Asus P7P55D EVO XFX RADEON HD5770 1GB CORSAIR XMS3 4GB DDR3 I just have a 420w OCZ. 30A on both 12v & 5v though which is more than enough if I don't add a videocard that requires its own power. Since I don't game, not an issue.
  18. ///M5 replied to mrray13's topic in Off Topic
Just made the same jump except to an i7. I am using the same power supply, but had a reasonable one to begin with. I am also not using "much" of a video card.
  19. Because a bunch of nooblets use the term and then never discuss their front stage, which anything with the two letters SQ has to be focused on. The sub comes second as that is the easy part. Even your question forgets that this is the critical part of any musical setup. The word isn't hated, the gross misuse of it is. All derivations of acronyms are so grossly misused every thread is better if they are never in it. And as Adrian said, if I wanted an SQ setup and I wanted to play loud then wouldn't that be a Loud Sound Quality setup? LSQ ftw, but then indeed 99.9999% of the discussion would be on how the hell to get the fronts loud enough to do that.

  21. On top of the other reasons already cited. Main stream per dollar vs internet sold per dollar should always lean towards the internet brand; however, you have to beware as there are some seriously shady people out there. Luckily Jacob is far from shady and his shit is more than worth it.

Wow, super nice of you. Thanks! I actually need 3 minimally though and only have one PCI slot so I need one that has 4-8 ports. Really awesome of you to offer though.
  23. ///M5 replied to mrray13's topic in Off Topic
No, very model dependent. The E36's with sport option or M had them in the trunk, all E34's have them under the backseat, and so on.
  24. I know you know better, just wanted to make sure that others reading the thread realized.
  25. LOL, I assume that is a joke. The difference between 1500w and 2400w won't make a difference to your ears. If so, hardly at all. It may make a few more things shake in your vehicle sure and definitely will give you a better score, but "good sounding" to "brutal" is definitely a joke. And to the original poster, I wouldn't choose between the Icon and the HDC3 for your goals. The AQ is better for your goals perhaps, but I wouldn't buy an AQ driver. There are other options than those two btw.
