  1. Hornsy are louder, doesn't mean better. Hard to implement though as they require a lot of consideration in mounting and usually need some serious eq work. If you are using your amps as crossovers you are going to need to try harder on the mounting locations as you'll have less processing available and more would kill your budget really fast. For this fitting everything in the kicks is probably your best option, but depends on your car. Basically try to get both speakers equal distance away from you and as far in front of you as possible. Driver options are hard to list as there are hundreds, but once you pick your mounting locations and really nail down implementation it will get easier. And to your question on an 8 in the door, I'd encourage you to run midbasses IB or as close as possible as you won't have to go through the build multiple enclosures to find the ideal size.
  2. ID horns will do more than keep up. Going to have to spend as much on your front stage as your subs/amps if you truly want it to "keep up". Maybe more as depending on what compromises you make.

  4. Actually 3dB is noted as the average that a human can perceive differently. In back to back scenario's it can get closer to a dB though
  5. If you really want to feel your midbass you are going to need 8's and usually that means a 3 way. You can do this with amps, but even better if you can help it along with processing on your headunit. What hu do you have?
  6. Then you aren't getting 3k out of that amp anyways, especially if you haven't supercharged your electrical. If you haven't and you set your gains to 3k I wouldn't expect the sub to live, but that would be the fault of the gain setting and not that the sub can't take 3kW. Not sure why you'd want to throw 3k at it anyways. Even if you set your gain at 2k your ears will NOT be able to tell the difference in output. It will be measurable, but not audible. What makes you say that amp won't put out 3k of clean power? I realize my electrical isn't the best in the world, but I've got more than enough alternator power, just need a little more on the battery side. Don't take my word for it, go read tests. With a normal voltage they don't. Again it is a pointless discussion anyways as you WON'T hear it.

Fly me and the W up for turkey day and get her to listen to real home audio, and eat real good food? J I only have Front L/R and my speakers you could easily buy used for $300 each and they flat out super fucking destory the blose. Pretty much anything can. Craigslist is your friend. Hmmmm well what brands are your reccomendations? For speakers as well as amps....... J There are 10x more than there are car stereo options... Also a lot of new stuff I haven't paid any attention to. Even Best Buy should have WAY better options.
  8. A description other than 'keep up' would be helpful.
  9. It would be really easy to figure out if you actually gave information on what you'd like and followed the posting guidelines. So far you are trying to make a decision based on subjective responses that don't correlate to your goals. It flat out doesn't make sense. There is a huge difference between those subs and only your needs will determine which one is right for you. Oh, and it has nothing to do with "over the top", lol.

  11. Does he have an amp? How big can the box be? What sort of music does he listen to.... Really need info to appropriately help. If you aren't sure what we need, please read the links in my sig

I regularly find premade veggie burgers to taste better than premade hamburgers, but there is a time and place for everything and for me that is a during the week lunch only.

  14. Definitely your box.
  15. Both great subs with very different applications. What are your friends goals, budget, space etc...

Really? Personally I think they sound like SHIT. My car sounds 1000's of times better for less than a grand which is ridiculous considering those are home audio speakers which are WAY easier to get to sound good. By FAR the worst sounding even when comparing to things that cost 1/3 as much. Those Fonkens that were linked will DESTROY them. I actually feel like I am not expressing myself strongly enough.

Go to ANY store and actually listen. Beware of Bose stores though as they are notorious for "cheating" on their setups

you fit in an Exige? Fit is an amusing way of putting it. I could really use more space and visibility isn't great, but damn are they fun to drive.

What are your mains? I take it u mean main desires? Honestly not much.............just loud clear sound effects for my movies and sporting events............Wife has a hard on for Bose I meant mains as in main two speakers Bose is a HUGE waste of money. Better sound through marketing. ie, if you think JL is overpriced then consider this. Bose is at least 10x more overpriced than JL. The only difference is that JL actually uses good drivers to begin with, Bose uses marketing gimics to make things work. Is it the size of the blose she likes or the sound? if it is the sound it will be easy to sway her as a simple A/B test will take care fo that shit.

bumpy You can't ask serious questions in the IHOP. It's against the rules. nah a serious question would be like, "what is the magnitude of a the E field inside a Gaussian sphere?" ill get the cabinet carpet i guess... Trick question the electronic field won't have a gaussian distribution as it has to roll off to the square of the radii.
