Improving SPL
Blame your box, your score should be much higher for what you have. I'd surely rebuild before spending another dollar.

Subwoofer design software?
The woofer tester won't help at all. In fact, I'd say if you can't figure out how to test drivers without the woofer tester then there is no way in hell you can design something. Another fact for the OP. You may be able to design something that works, but it won't be as good as what you can buy off the shelf and the prototype alone will cost you more than 20x what buying what would work for you will.

AudioControl processor/crossovers
My point still stands. No eq and no t/a is not plenty of control. Personally if that were my only choice I'd just run passive.

which would you choose for a h/u and active setup?
If you want your screen to control your system it is an all Alpine or carpc solution. There really isn't another option. If you don't care if your proc is separate then there are some other options but none of them from Sonic. I could care less if I see any bands together. In fact doing it blind might help as what I see won't interfere with what I hear. Remember the eq is there to cut away the problems not to boost anything. No need for it to look "smooth".

Subwoofer design software?
If you need that much help in the process perhaps you should put your energy into something else.

which would you choose for a h/u and active setup?
The RF is noisy and really is meant to level an OEM response more so than to run active. It only has either 12dB or 24dB slopes, requires an expensive palm or pc interface and generically speaking I haven't read too much good about it. The DQXS./DQX has 30 bands of eq for EACH channel, 2 fully parametric eq's, available dash control, the only thing I am unsure on is if the crossovers are fixed at 24dB or not. Neither list time alignment, but perhaps I can't read. I have heard positives on the AC unit and none on the RF. Personally I wouldn't really want either. You could always buy a Pioneer 800prs from them and throw it in your glovebox.

Btl Vs Xcon ( 12")
Word bro, no need to get harsh im still a noob and cant post from work,... In short i (obviously) want a spl sub that i can use for just day to day listening, and maybe put in one of my local competition just to see what it can do, ....Just want it loud..lol It wasn't harsh, you agreed to search when you joined the forum. You also agreed to attach the right info to a thread when you make one. Having an attitude towards this won't help you.

Welcome to the IHoP
Isn't that a normal weekend?? You are in college. For me though at your age it would be more like I just spent 65% of the past school year drunk, and 95% of the time the rest of the year.

how much will i gain (maybe)
Locked as this is not something anyone can answer, nor is it a helpful thread for either you or the forum.

I'd still tell them to find you a car. If they can then settle, otherwise I don't see how that can be.

adding tweeters to my 5x7" door speakers.....
Adding stuff to add it doesn't make sense. What about your current setup don't you like?

advice on some serious bs?
bass is always omnidirectional. there is no exception to that. and yes, like normal people, there has been plenty of times that i hear a loud system, and look into a crowd of cars and have a difficult time telling which one it is. hmm... maybe im just weird? the only way u can tell where its coming from, is when the volume gradually increases as it gets closer, peaks in volume, and then gradually decreases as it gets farther away. other than that, bass has been and will always be dubbed omnidirectional. Well , I have to dissagree ! frequencies shift as you are moving away or towards something , in short : to the person standig/sitting stil the sound shifts .you produce higher frequencies when you drive towards them as the sound is compressed and lower as the soundwaves are elongated as you move away from him . same goes for SPL ,the closer the person is to you it louder it wil be. this way even bass frequencies can be detected easily from which direction they come from . so low frequency waves themselves are omnidirectional you in your car are NOT You are sort of right. The Doppler effect will indeed change the pitch, but that has NOTHING to do with whether or not the waves are omnidirectional. Just that they change pitch based on a different reference point. And I don't understand the second half of your comment as the conclusion is also unrelated to the facts. You are correct that the closer you are to a sound source the louder it will be, but again that has NOTHING to do with directionality of sound. Either way it is a fact that human perception of really low bass is indeed without direction, as it approaches some threshold though that changes. For some that threshold is lower than others. Of course the other thing you are forgetting about is that the low frequency energy will energize rattles, buzzes and other noises that are super easy to locate. Bottom line is that it is really, really easy to locate the car with the bass and the OP's comment to the cop wasn't right and I am sure it probably netted him the ticket. Instead of copping an attitude perhaps an apology and some politeness might have gotten you off. Either way, sounds like it was deserved.

Enclosure for BMW trunk
Sub forward with a manifold connected to the ski pass. Port up with a manifold connected to the rear deck. You could also build a 4th order bandpass with the port firing through the ski pass, but the other option is easier.

Welcome to the IHoP
How is that possible? Did they find a comp?

which would you choose for a h/u and active setup?
That's tough, I don't know of a screen that has crossovers that are worth a damn nor can any non-Alpine control an off board processor. (I haven't looked in 6 months so it is possible something is new but I doubt it as that isn't the normal market for them). As for what sonic has, the AC DQX or DQXS could be okay, but I have NO experience with them so don't consider that a recommendation just the potential.

Help tuning amp.
Actually since you said you wanted SQ you NEED new front speakers and an amplifier for them. That will solve the whole problem you are having. If you don't add those then you should have bought a BL as the Q isn't for you anyways. Time to start shopping. *in the interim, perhaps that h/u has level control and you can turn down the output to the front stage

Lincolns vs. Crown vics
What you hear good things about you are misconstruing. Your goals are not the same goals as the threads you are thinking where you "heard good things". With what you say you are going to do with a sub if you truly want to "hear the words" you should be looking to put in horns. "Keeping up" isn't trivial. IMO you should expect to spend as much on your front stage as your subs if you truly are interested in that, in your case I don't think you are but you choose to use industry terms and read into things describing what you misperceive as your goals. The issue with the horns is you will need some eq to tame their anomalies and some serious time doing the install, but if done well they will meet your requested needs.

2 way active, mid bass prob
How much "sparkle" do you need on the top end? Since you have a midbass problem and 8" will solve that better than anything else. The only issue is getting it to blend with a tweeter. If you can lose a little sparkle an 8 with a 3" full range would work for a 2 way.
