  1. True, but I'd be money that the Polk tweeter is crossed above 4k. Not how I'd do things when I have a choice, but a somewhat logical trade off if you are meeting a price point. A 2nd order isn't really any harder to make, but if you don't measure and guess wrong I'd rather go higher and shallower.

The Supra's are ultra easy to make go fast. Hell of a bargain and reliable as well. When I sold Toyota's in 97 I almost bought one.

About how much more than PA? I am trying to talk my wife into moveing out of PA. I believe we are paying 12.8-13.1/KWH compared to 4.5-5.2/kwh in the surrounding states. Huh? IIRC ours is around $0.065/kWh. What units are you using?

I sort of wish my pc would die, then I'd have a faster one. It has been way overclocked and running fucking stable now for more than 5 years. I figured where it was clocked a year would kill it. I think I have replaced the main HDD in it 4x during the same period. Fricking unreliable harddrives.

Oh, an CQC (home automation software) is currently controlling my stereo in the basement playing music in whatever room I feel like via the Squeezebox without changing the interface. It also can control the lighting in the house. Hopefully in an hour or two I'll have some nice graphics and Pandora+internet radio working with it as well.

I get sick everytime I set foot in AZ. The lack of humidity kills me. Funny too since before I started travelling I didn't really ever get sick. Not since the mid 80's anyway.

I really don't get it your title compares the Q to the BL and then you ask about DC. That and you give Zero background \ Please take the time to make your threads helpful for others searching on the board.

Fuck, I was hoping that was only the case in countries not so developed. This definately means there's no hope for us. Worldwide problem; however, I will add that taking the approach to not vote promotes it further. The more people that voice their concern and vote for who they want to the better.
  17. Actually I completely disagree with everything you recommended. Walmart would be a terrible place to buy a cheap tweeter. Here is a cheap tweeter: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=275-035 And if you prefer metal: http://madisound.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1767 Both of those tweeters are "cheap" and both are a significant step up from what came on the Polk set. Nearly an order of magnitude better. However, I am also sure that the parameters of either of those tweets is not comparable with the Polk and could sound terrible with the Polk crossover. An alternative would be to use a tweeter like this and build your own passive to go with it. A first order slope is easy to make, but you'd still have to do some sort of Lpad most likely (again rather easy to make).

How about California? Heard on the radio that they have amended their constitution like 550 times in their 130 year history. Their constitution is actually fake, just like the rest of the state.

Indeed FDR was a joke. I'd vote for H. Hoover though if he were running right now.
  20. If you truly have good fuses and voltage to both the remote and power @ 12v+ it is most definitely a problem inside of your amplifier. Conveniently 2 months ago is within warranty, although with a PA good luck with that.
  21. If you are truly worried about SQ, save your money and 86 the sub idea completely and put a lot more time and effort into your front stage. I guarantee that is what will gain you the most SQ. As for a sub, the "best" SQ installation will be one where you do not even know there is a sub at all. Yep, you can't show it off since it will be completely acoustically invisible. Sarcasm aside, I really actually doubt this is what you are after. If you truly are, great sorry I misjudged you but 99.999% of the people that ask that question on the internet are not so I apologize for the assumptions. To answer your question thouhg the group you listed that is installed by the best installer will sound "best". That being said, buy the brand that makes you the happiest. Oh, and eff AQ. IMO.
  22. Some will allow you to bi-amp and run a different channel to each mid and tweeter, then you could use a 4chn amp. Impedance and subs and impedance and component sets shouldn't be intermixed. Sub amps run at lower impedances because it equals cheap power and with this being said manufacturers make coils for subs to take advantage of this. In mids and highs it is doesn't work that way, regularly you are going to give up as much efficiency as you gain by lower the impedance. You will see a ton of people running at 8 ohms in the front as there are a way better collection of drivers that are built that way as the trade-offs aren't worth it. If you see comp sets below 4ohm considering it a marketing move and not product engineering, regularly those sets leave a lot to be desired. Either way yours ears should be the judge, in particular in the price range you are in. At that price there will be a ton of compromises and no ears other than your own can truly tell which are worth putting up with.
