How do the IXL 12 compares...?
I am pretty sure no one has compared those exact drivers in 1cuft. I will tell you that in a bit more space (1.25) the IXl would take more than I had to throw at it with the 1000.1 even when way clipped. Beast of a sub, but sounds great being beastly.

Welcome to the IHoP
the dcx looks like one sweet unit. way more than I think I could ever hope to need/use for just sub management. If I understand it correctly though it would be an amazing tool to use as an in home active cross over, am I correct? That would be fun to use as a project for a really impressive 2 chan in the living room. When I move into the next house I hope it will have a true dedicated HT room. I would love to build a completely active enveloping experience, and maybe even go as far to build each speaker myself. Hidden huge speakers with an 18+ for bass on each chan, with extremely clear mid and highs. :floats off into deam theater land: I would probably end up listening to most 2 chan music with that set up however anyway. <-- would rather run passive at home, but can surely see the benefit of using the 2496 for "trial" crossovers .... I would end up changing drivers all the dang time. I know me. If I had the means, and the space, I would do nothing but putz around with projects like that. I don't now because I don't know enough about sound and how it all works, or what the measurements I could take would mean You need more rooms. So....come to my house and putz.

Best speakers for sq and mid bass
The woofers are, but I mounted the tweeters high on the door just under the A piller. Thank for your input on this thread M5. Tro Worth looking into what you have done to your stock locations as the install can bear better improvements than switching your comps. Pics and install descriptions go a long way towards getting real help.

Need help with comps, and amp
Best in that price range can only be told by your ears. Go listen to things and see what you like. And yes rears are teh useless.

Welcome to the IHoP
Borrow mine . B&K though not that cheap stuff. Really, what do you want to measure? I will measure later I have a feeling in room it's going to be a nightmare. That unit(the MIC2200) is just to have a HPF and some EQ capability, it's not an actual MIC ULTRAGAIN PRO MIC2200 2-Channel Tube Microphone Preamplifier/Line Driver/DI Box Features Discrete mic/line input stages with soft mute +48 V phantom power Ultra-wide bandwidth from 2 Hz to 200 kHz for open sound Two fully parametric EQ’s with adjustable center frequency, bandwidth and level Built-in high-quality vacuum tube for outstanding, ultra-musical tube sound Fully tunable and switchable 12 dB high-pass filter Phase reverse switch per channel Level conversion (-10 dBV to +4 dBu) and DI box functionality The MIC2200 is the ideal extension to your console, MIDI setup or hard disk recording system. Its integrated parametric EQ’s give you extra sound-shaping power, while its built-in tube adds warmth and transparency to your signal. In addition, the ULTRAGAIN PRO features direct injection and level conversion functionality. Ah, thought MIC2200 was a mic. Silly me. No worries! I'll call you when it is measuring time have you over sometime for a room calibrating party..... basicaly measure stuff for 15 min and tweak teh EQ, then drink a lot and eat BGE food. =D BGE

Door Pods vs Stock Location + Deadening
Really simple. 5x7's are useless and will never sound good. There is no reason EVER to buy them. By default since you only gave us two choices we have to pick the other....not that there aren't other options.

IXL-15 Designs
I think since you posted a follow up you thought the above was a question, but I am not sure what you are asking...

Hugely off axis? Oops, Didn't see off axis. In his silverado

Welcome to the IHoP
It says the ushers frequency range is only to 8000 Puke, I wouldn't use it much above 2k but would probably pass it first order maybe even starting around 1.2k

Welcome to the IHoP
I'm really so confused on what tweeter to pick. I know i enjoyed t-rav's midrange, but I don't know how it would react in my truck, but I know that Sean has experience with it in his truck but when it comes to the tweeter I don't know what the difference is going to be. I don't really know wether I would like be to optimized for midrange or midbass.... no idea what so ever by the way, post in the thread so other people can read the info as well I would have, but you already stated my rec'd or one of anyways and didn't want to be the first to post.

Welcome to the IHoP
Indeed. It is pretty kickass. When I go 3G on my touch pro 2 I will be super mega ultra happy with the lo-fi I bet. Fast even on GSM

how much do u get out of sound deadening your box
It is NOT acoustically dead. Tap on your box once and listen to it resonate and realize how ridiculous a statement that was. To the OP however, it really depends on your goals. There are plenty of useful absorbers that can be used in a box but without understanding your reasoning or knowing what exactly your box is it is dubious to even answer. If I could guess by assuming your goals I'd say you don't need it. Hmm. I Was Under The Impression That It Was The Deadest Material For That Purpose. Lead comes to mind as some of the deadest materials available. MDF isn't extremely dead but I bet a lead box wouldn't be too much fun Huge difference between "acoustically dead" and what MDF is. HUGE. Lead is a great barrier as well

Best speakers for sq and mid bass
And if they are just sitting in nearly stock install mounts they can easily get WAY better.

Good or Bad you make the decision
Well it all the equipment is in my sig except I am running a BXI2610 instead of the RD amp. So for how it's installed, the sub is firing up and the port is firing back. So basically the sub is firing right at the trunk lid. I am thinking about rebuilding the box and firing sub and port into the cabin to help with it, since that should take care of most of the rattle I would think since the pressure would all be getting forced into the cabin. But basically with the design right now I am fucked so some of the closed cell foam kind of lessen the impact at all? Great help. Please spend some time when you make threads to define what your goals are. Perhaps starting with the simple things even like what kind of car it is... <--doesn't have sigs turned on which is rather normal here

how do you fit 8 gauge in push button terminals
Stupid since 12ga will do. Twist caps are for solid core wire.
