overheating.
Funny that a guy who likes GM which is no longer even really a company is trying to knock on a Ford. There was a reason no livery cars were Cadillac's as they couldn't keep them running. Not a problem with the Town Cars.

That sounds particularly stupid. My average class size my senior year in college was 4 students and a prof.

Less than 12 makes me itch for more i was paddling the playboat. Right now i'm laying my arm against the couch to type because it's so sore You'll get into sometime. I don't paddle a kayak, but do canoe a lot and without wind I don't really get tired. More of a dexterity thing than a strength thing to me.

It doesn't get in the way for me and I'm running a 19" widescreen. Haven't noticed it in the way on my laptop though either. +/- where?

Amusingly I ran into that thread...yesterday. I have a wood project in my bathroom and want to have my sub for the living room planned so I can do them both at the same time. Way faster to do two very related projects than two separate ones : ) What will your living room sub be for equipment? I have a D4 Rlp 12" and D2 IXL 12". Not sure on space yet, but it looks like 7.5cubes (EXTERNAL) is about the max. I have no amp yet, but will be using a plate amp. Now you see why I modelled a sealed Mael-X as I was comparing it to what I have and with the lack of processing on my stereo sealed also has its advantages. This is for my living room, not my home theater room. Down there I will have much more cone area

Amusingly I ran into that thread...yesterday. I have a wood project in my bathroom and want to have my sub for the living room planned so I can do them both at the same time. Way faster to do two very related projects than two separate ones : ) The original easy button was playing down to 5 hz I am thinking this might be the way to go since my amp will only be pushing 1000 watts. I will need a HPF for under ~10hz, but how much do you think I will loose? I'm having trouble deciding between running the pair of mael-x's in dual vented or dual sealed.... I don't see why that is even a question, modeling shows sealed to be the way to go. I have no practical experience with the driver nor have I done any research on it. Just grabbed the T/S and slapped them into WinISD. Output above 50Hz is within a dB at 1kW and by 20Hz the sealed box is 10dB closer to flat (only 2db off). Of course both compared without room gain.

The OW1 works well off axis, but kills your budget. It would mate nicely with an ER18.

You could pad these down to 94dB. rofl http://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=45_229_246&products_id=286

and cross them at 5K? lol. The amp I am using has no processing power and neither does the Source Unit lol Just because you have crappy crossovers doesn't mean you have to use said crappy crossovers. Jeese Not sure who Jeese is, but have read it about ten different ways in my mind since you posted it earlier.

Any idea the true impedance of the DLS? Are they both blown? How about the sensitivity? How well do you want it to blend with the mids? Loud or clarity a focus? How much power? Exposed to the elements? And of course..............................................budget?

In large formats I can't think of any that can't be crossed that "low" I want those for replacement of the DLS tweets. If I re use it it will be passively on the four wheeler and I really don't care if its perfect... its a fourwheeler lol The DLS's are in on your four wheeler?

If you can truly use that high of a cross point though you can pick up some serious bennies in the off axis response. Look at the difference in that regard comparing the XT19 and XT25. Hmmm.

And for more, significantly better.

There is some cheap shit that can't handle 4k, but for $10/driver you can do better than what you had.

Budget? Kicks or staying in the doors this time? Staying in the doors. don't have the budget to do kicks or the desire to fiberglass in this 100+ degree weather. I'm looking for a 6.5"+ mid with a large format tweet (or a small format if it fits better of course) Fits better? You have tons of space. Off axis response will be your friend.

Opinion wanted-- for an SQ setup.
All three manufacturers make many different choices. I have some Alpines that are Vifa's and some that are Scan-speaks. I realize there were specific models cited above, but without knowing your mounting requirements and tastes it is pretty hard to recommend. Better is subjective and won't be the same for all people btw.
