Welcome to the IHoP
chit, lol, i know of a certain competitor that installs a small cap, 1/2 farad, inline with his headunit...and yep, all 4 guage. works for him. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee wire is wire, but don't install an additional just replace the one you have Thanks guys. They way I see it is current is going to choose the path on least resistance so it shouldn't matter if I leave the harness connection and add one to the back of the deck. The whole reason I am contemplating it is to further eliminate a possible pico fuse problem. Although I have had my 880 for 3+ years and haven't had a problem, it was under warranty the whole time. Now the warranty is gone and I recently took it out do to circumstances and now getting ready to install it again, just thinking it may help. I wouldn't run two, just get rid of the crap one and your problems are solved.

I'm glad you're satisfied with the job that keeps you below the poverty line. At least you won't be disappointed much in life. I am. =) Making more then most 17 year olds. I made more when I was 11, and if you correct for inflation more than 2x.

I can still hear a lot outside the car, even though, except the roof, all the panels are pretty dead Have you tried a foam material. I have no understanding of why, because from what I understand 90% of deadening is just adding mass, but layers of foam on the roof made it sound so much more dead than just the deadener. I wish I would have put expanding foam in the supports before I put sheets of foam over the supports, but it really made a huge difference. I can't tell you why, but it made some kind of difference for me, in a big way on the roof. You need a barrier, not just a damper. The damper helps with stopping resonances, but a barrier can actually block sound. Aluminum backed vinyl is great for this. I'm confused though, why then would the ensolite even make a difference? The RAAM (aluminum butyl(?)) worked, but the ensolite foam made nearly the same (perceived) difference. I may just be understanding it wrong, and more hearing what I want to for all the work I did. =) My Expy doors are horrible to get the outer skin dampened. I would have to cut metal. I hope when I just deaden the inside skin it's enough. The only thing Ensolite does is prevent rubbing of two adjacent surfaces. If you "heard" anything else it is just due to the fact that you had expectations of hearing something else. If you used it as an isolating layer between layers of deadening it would have some value as a decoupler. Any benefits to using it as a decoupler between diffrent layers of deadener or between deadener and some vinyl / aluminum barrier ? Yes, as a decoupler it has some value.

Examples of how to waste your money on deadening
His installation of it didn't. No barriers and all damping does not yield results.

I grilled chops last night I <3 my egg You bought one of these yet? They are finally going to release a plate for the C4 so I can finally get mine. I know its cheating, but making life easier is well worth the $250. Man I got one of those on your recomendation last year! Right now with no counters and the range out, it's all we have to cook on. For the first time in 4 years I have had a microwave in the house and used it. Just to boil or heat other things up. Grilling everynight right now. I just need top build a stand for it. Hunching over the thing all evening is a pain. And a great way to get smoke in your eye! =) Rock on, you never told me you got it. Dick

That's the dumbest thing I've heard all week, especially considering that yesterday was St. Patty's Day and the day before that I spent a few hours with my nephew on Xbox Live Really, are you truly that lost??? You are saying that you can have a valid opinion with no experience? Good luck enjoying life with that attitude. Blind squirrel syndrome ftw That shows a lot of respect for those around you.....well if I don't know, I can't do no wrong. As long as you have a general understanding of a concept you can still have a valid opinion even with no experience...it may turn out to be wrong in the end but thems the brakes...you can't be right about everything I have no experience working with a chainsaw or an axe, never owned either or used them, but I bet you dollars to doughnuts I have a valid opinion on how to cut down a tree... As far as the respect thing....meh...I respect people worth respecting, but for the most part I respect people as far as I can throw em...of course I'm in college so "for the most part" usually refers to a bunch of lazy ass good for nothing children...would be nice if there were more HOP people in the real world...sigh Unless your definition of experience includes a general understanding of a concept, in which case I concede... Of course this would be the next post I read.

dont know what to do
The one that is installed better. Now if the question is after being installed for 2 years which one will be louder, well then the answer is your stock systems sub as the Hifonics will crap out on you before then. Sooner if you aren't lucky. Disposable crap amps, buy something else.

How can you have found the pico fuse problem on the web but completely missed all info on active crossovers? Other than a couple really early Pio's I have not seen the pico fuse problem ever appear. Bang for the buck its the winner in my book. Yes the H701 is just a processor.

Is that sarcasm? You do realize on average there are 250-300 working days a year with the 50/3 normal folk reaching more for 250. (250/3)*100= $8,333. I sure hope it was "easy"

Pio 800/880prs, Eclipse 8053, 8443, 8454,8455, Ural CDD, Clarion DRZ9255, Alpine H701+(controller or h/u), Pioneer P9 combo Plus there are also off board processors, but being a new to this all I'd recommend you stay with something you can control in the headunit. *note the list is not complete, but I am biased and won't put stuff I wouldn't even think about in it.

It has crossovers built in that will cover the required frequency range of your drivers. Normally it would also include t/a and appropriate eq for each channel to make it sound good.

What are the cons of using a capacitor?
Still a pointless post, unless you measured the current and know it was 1000w and used a real o-scope or real meter for measuring the voltage of your charging system. Neither I am sure happened in your case.
-
Midbass
And with no real crossovers and running the difficult drivers you currently have in your system I would say most definitely currently it sounds really, really bad.

I don't think your amp can, but since you haven't told us what amp it is I really cannot tell you. Your headunit most definitely cannot currently do active even if it were working...unless my memory fails me but i doubt that.

What's the best way to tune an Amp...
Please follow a gain setting tutorial as you are not ready to use your ears. Also, it isn't tuning this is rudimentary setup 101. It MUST be done right or you will smoke your shit. If you had even tried a search, you would have found your answers. Please try MUCH harder next time. Bass Boost is retarded. I personally have an issue with it even being on an amplifier and will celebrate and promote a sub amp that doesn't have it as an option. It does nothing positive and a ton of negative.
