  1. If your goals are as you state, you should separate the crossovers from the amplifiers as none of them will truly be flexible enough. Obviously they are exceptions where companies lump a high end processing unit with the amplifier like the Zapco's, but the rest are not really flexible enough. First off, I'd cross off all amps that d on't have time alignment and independent left right equalizers. i think i would simply be using the time alignment and independent left right equalizers of the HU... might be going with an Alpine 9887 or something... If your headunit has independent L/R and T/A why would you want them in an amplifier??? Oh, btw the 9887 doesn't have L/R. You really should focus on the install and not worry so much about the amplifier.
  2. Since you are starting with subs, I severely doubt that an SQ system is what you want. If it was that would be the LAST thing you were worried about.
  3. Let's look at this quantitatively for 3 way fronts and center and 2 way rears: Amplifier requirements: Front Left -- 3 channels Front Right -- 3 channels Center -- 3 channels Rear Left - 2 channels Rear Right - 2 channels Subwoofer - 1 channel So you will need 14 mono amplifiers or 7 stereo with power appropriate for each channel. If you used the Behringer 2496 you will need 3-4 of them depending on how you control things. I am not sure sure that 14 channels of amplification and 4 2496's make sense. Personally using an active processor at home should be a pre-emptive decision to help design appropriate passives which you then further optimize for your drivers.

ya the global warming this is a tough issue. one of the guys in my classes is an honors student and he is doing a report on global warming, and he pretty much says its BS had some good points though, cant really remember them very well right now I don't buy it. It's overhyped and overblown so that some people can make money. I really don't buy it since the other month they came out and said some data they had got from Russia that they have never 'checked' before was grossly wrong, who knows what other temp data throughout the years has been off. On top of that considering our sampling is around 100 years and the whole warming thing is rated in the order of magnitude of a degree/hundred years it is a complete fucking joke. There are WAY too many variables that with our small sampling of time that we could determine everything is globally heating up.

  10. They can take more, but don't even need that much. My IXL 12 has 1kw of an amp on it, but never really even sees 250w.

My two least favorite companies in car audio are: 2nd Skin & Fi. Both seem to completely destroy forums.
