Welcome to the IHoP
Definitely shady, but everytime I have driven one of those it makes me smile. More so than anything else I drove the other day.

Aaron, where do I find out what I already assume and that I'd get nickel'd to death in this? http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u...amp;cardist=337

My Future Set-up (I Hope)
Rear speakers will make your system worse across the board and do nothing good. Waste money if you like. For $250 the Pioneer 720 prs set is nice.

My Future Set-up (I Hope)
You keep using the word loud, perhaps a BL is a better choice. That or an ICON in a ported enclosure. Buy components, not coaxials. Don't waste ANY money on the rears, it is just flat out a bad idea. I don't think running active is for you, stick with passives for now. And do not leave out the sound deadening, the install is MORE important than the equipment choices.

Midbass driver
Actually in a car, I'd say go IB if you don't know. Otherwise get ready to build a bunch of different boxes. I will add though it makes no sense to build a box for a driver you know nothing about. You'd be much better off just buying some other drivers.

Advantages of TL and bandpass enclocures?
In a car if you are a noob, there are no advantages to any of the alignments you described. TL is way too big, almost even for a cargo van. And a bandpass, does what it is called. It will only play through a shortened acoustic range. The major advantage of those designs is that all the sound comes out of the port so you can easily have a box in the trunk and the opening into your car. Far from trivial to build though. 4th order is easier to build, but 6th order will be louder. If loud is what you are after though, just build a ported box.

I don't even know what I need yet, but I like the way you work. quoted the wrong response, but I am intrigued. I had actually thought about just doing a cement counter top as it sounds like fun, but maybe I should take the easy route.

I put 3/4" mdf under the seat and on top of the box. The metal rails on the seat actually rest on the box.

Welcome to the IHoP
The ski pass on the Audi will work for an IB manifold, and the fold down rear seat in the caddy will accept one as well. At least the least important part of the install is going to be easy.

FSC? Full Size Chevy (his pickup) Also known as my GM turd which is well designed for audio installations and has exceptionally comfy seats Of course why I bought it. Same issue now with the Caddy/Audi. Neither stock system is easy to integrate with since they are Blose crap, but I'd like to actually keep it looking stock and keep the stock Nav.
