They can take a lot. As for the sub, only you can tell. Again for metal really all of it should be coming from your midbasses so personally a single 12 would be more than plenty for me but some people like exaggerated bass.

In particular since that is a one channel sub amp and won't power 4 speakers.

Rears aren't necessary, there aren't really any decent 6x9's available, and he should return that amp and get a real one.

Why can't you bolt it, it is a really, really bad idea to not have it super secure. Considering the weight of a box I wouldn't put it in if you can't bolt it down.
