Damn, I was hoping we could convince you to go overkill on full range horns. I need to hear more, but not my thing atm. The BK-16's are puny You need to get into the people-sized stuff to really get the midbass...and the non-Sigma Fostex's don't have anywhere near the top end that the Sig's do... I wasn't basing my thoughts on the BK16's...

I used Raamat, but either option si fine
  3. Personally I'd spend nearly all of it on the front stage. To get the response you ask for, midbass will be your primary concern. A 3way active setup will be the best way to get it. If three way is too complex, you could use a large midbass up front with a 3" driver on axis for the rest. Considering you aren't dying for highs this could be a very nice solution for you that is simpler than a full out 3 way setup. The problem with the 3 way is you will need to add some processing to the 880 to make it work, although putting the mid/tweet together so they can share time alignment could cure this issue. How much of the $2500 is to go towards the install or is it just hardware
  4. It isn't that the driver can't, but your setup won't. If you have your subs blend perfectly with the front, they aren't setup to wang. You could have a couple different settings, but that requires some processing.
  5. It won't have a "knob" but you can control the bass level from it. Of course if you want an actual knob a lot of amplifiers have them and it will be much less than $175

  7. Just to repeat. Same test tone. X volts out of the amplfier with the SLA set to +4, Y volts out of the RCA's. Change the SLA to 0, now you have X/2 out of the amplifier and still have Y on the RCA's? If so, you have to be measuring wrong. Are you putting the DMM from the middle pin of the rca to the outer shield? If you are, please list the exact voltages you are measuring while the multimeter is in AC mode.
  8. It won't go that way. The real question is how is your installation going to be biased. You ask for SQ subs, but if you are going to wang them away it will really, really change the responses. There is a huge difference between how you would typically setup a system for Diana Krall versus Hip Hop. Sort of exactly why there is confusion, if you ask for SQ you'll get it, just make sure that is what you want.

  10. wasnt talking to you..wtf is your problem..whenever someone doesnt agree with you your attitude changes and you start acting bitchy..are you ok man? Please re-read this thread. I didn't disagree with anyone in it, just answering your questions.

You need to stop posting in threads that you don't know anything about.
  12. You are thick headed, it is the install that will make either not the equipment. The discussion here isn't about what equipment you have but filling goals. The OP asked for SQ. This denotes no rear fill. In your hypothetical question there is an easy answer. A system that only had 2 of the 4 drivers would sound better and therefore have better SQ than the one with 4. So in other words, if your goal was to build an SQ system and you bought what you said above you would fail compared to the person who just used a single set of drivers. I find this really amusing that you are even trying to have this discussion considering you don't even know what a crossover is.
  13. <--not surprised The D310 can control the H701 which is a hell of a processor.
  14. and it has a sub crossover in it already edit: John snuck one in between, I meant the d310 does, although so does the H701

You must be reading challenged. He is posting an anti-techno picture on the door.
  16. No, you just missed the analogy completely. You wouldn't argue with saying that SPL is for maximum output right? As in SPL competitions they score you based on how loud you play. Well the same holds true for SQ. To make matters worse in this regard you haven't heard a well setup only front speaker system, but just think since you have four speakers and like them that it is the right way. Giving out recommendations with no background nor comparison is not only shady, but not helpful at all. To dumb this down for you in this case you have decided that you like your system (which is great since your system is for you), but to make yourself feel good you are trying to say you have an SQ system and altering the definition of SQ to fit what you have. What you like is fine, but that doesn't make it so you can change definitions of rather well defined terms to fit your scenario.

Installing the printer driver crap on my laptop now.
  18. And how are you currently selecting which frequencies go to your subwoofer?
  19. Yours is confused. SQ is not something you understand...at all.
  20. But there is absolutely no x-over on the Epicenter....
  21. Well changing the definition to suit you isn't really logical, I suppose you can do that for SPL as well?
  22. Some amps can bandpass, but they aren't typically the cheap ones. If you go "3 way" you should really, really, really scrap the 4x6's. With a midbass playing to 250-300hz you could easily get away with only a 3" mid or choose a 4" for easier mounting. Sort of depends on your tastes, but it would be a huge waste to mix a midbass with the 4x6's.
  23. Not about need, I'd say you can't put 1500w to it as for an SQ installation you'd have to have a really, really serious front stage then.
  24. well we have gone over this you only do the front and i choose to do the whole truck..and whats wrong with 2 15's for sq? let me guess your going to come with a whole diy setup for the guy..lol Your choice for the whole vehicle IS NOT for SQ purposes which the original poster asked for.
