  1. The ONLY lens I don't use one for is the 50mm. I also don't use filters, ie lens protectors but instead shoot with a hood on ALL the time. The exception is the 17-55 as it is prone to dust collecting on the inside without a filter so I use one, but still use the hood. The one time I didn't of course my camera fell off the table and busted the lens. $100 to Canon and good to go, but that experience reinforced using a hood. *on the 50 I don't even own one...
  2. With the fact that we are having camera discussions
  3. And your hard comment is right. You can achieve bokeh with a pos kit....but you need the background WAY away from the target. The other hard part is that you will never focus on what you want, your images will be soft no matter how hard you try to get the shutter speed faster, and generally you will have to dump 10 pictures for every good one. For all those reasons, I see cheap glass as a detriment that shouldn't exist. If I had to shoot 10 pictures of my boys to get a good one I'd give up the hobby. Much nicer to focus on learning how to frame and be a better photographer than to struggle getting the lens to do anything right.
  4. Amazing for video? All of your other lenses are better than it for video.
  5. Buy it with a kit lens but don't pay anymore. You'll have a really hard time selling it for more than $125.
  6. They are free at AT&T as well using your logic Billy Jack.
  7. I get paid in BJs for my pictures.
  8. Almost
  9. She loves the waffle maker and toaster lol. Bought me a rice cooker which she expects I will return for another. Trying to figure that out now. Perhaps a visit to the kitchen window is in order.
  10. More power is never a bad thing. The compromise you get to make is off axis response on the tweeter with the capability to dig low.
  11. Our roads have ice on them like hell. Makes me long for rwd
  12. If it wasn't 2k and I would still need a zoom for sports I would own it.
  13. Measured/researched to be sure that the Evil will fit in the door? It should, but... Definitely a tweeter with a better off axis response will be your friend. Looks like you aren't limited to small tweeters from the pic though!
  14. The 4800 in network mode will do all you need for crossing things over, no need for the minidsp. Where/what do the mounting locations look like in 06?
  15. Up to 188 pts this week in fantasy Not bad for a superbowl appearance.
  16. Adding the 85 1.2 though....
  17. Did it with Big Whitey though so I didn't have to use a flash.
  18. Just shot my kids with their presents under the tree. Had to go 2 rooms away to get the whole tree. ~30' lol
  19. Spending $7400 on lenses to replace big whitey is definitely NEVER happening.
  20. And yes, I REALLY want an 85mm 1.2...but am sure it will fuck up more of my shots than fix. The ones it fixes though will be epic.
  21. I do not EVER watch the video though, lol. Piece of mind I have it.
  22. Long term the 60d (ie 5 years) will be worth what the 40d is now. Going to cost you $200 to own that rig for 5 years. The 40d will lose $100 during the same time. IMO the video alone is worth it. Even a bad video camera that is with you is better than a stellar one that is not. You won't go anywhere meaningful in the child's life without the camera so that to me is worth a bunch.
  23. Bag, hell, don't look at me. I have about $600 into bags. A backpack, a small crumpler and a think tank briefcase. Shutter count on a non-pro camera is a problem. This and cosmetic shape would be my primary choices. I don't have an extra battery or charger, but get more than 700 shots out of a charge so I don't see the point. Last year in Paris I never used the flash and never charged my camera, think that was just under 900.
