2way & 3way
To really do a 3 way setup you need active crossovers and it would be self defeating to use off the shelf components and modify their setup instead you should really choose particular diy drivers that fit the needs of the application.

Or offer to buy it and give them a simple one in trade

Funny, even in the title of your thread and poll options you choose to call people names.

/\ you two were obviously the "couple of people" that I knew that had issues.

component speakers to keep up with
Even more budget as he already has the D310 which IIRC controls the H701 Easily enough for the mini-horns, an H701 and a pair of these: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=294-679 That setup will not only keep up, but have the potential to sound really good doing it. You will have to run your subs higher than I personally do as the pa style midranges can't quite dig super low, but considering your goals they will do a better job than any 3-4 sets of off the shelf components for $1000 or less, both in better sound and more output.

shold I actually type it , lol

hifonics bxi1606d
the only thing good about it is the price, but considering what it doesn't do that isn't even so good.

He did say $1k and of course if we add the monies for the Epicenter, we now have $1200 for an H701 and some drivers??

Actually I'd love to watch you sit in a car without hearing protection for 5 minutes with a 1kHz response at 150dB.

Welcome to the IHoP
I typed something mean, but just deleted it.

It can, but I'd like to see your midbass setup that does 150dB. *as for the poll results, most people didn't vote since you didn't make a poll that actually had choices.

No one ever "needs" an epicenter, but the H701 will take care of the crossover and a ton more eq than you currently have. It would allow you to run some seriously loud drivers that could 'keep up' with your subs and not force you to get ridiculous with tons of drivers and comp sets. A pair of horns and some pro audio 8-10" mids and you will have no issues hearing the words, and will gain a much nicer response and a heck of a lot more control all at the same time. The disadvantage is with all of the flexibility it becomes more complex, but considering your goals the benefits outweigh that.

Just like not quiet doesn't equal SPL, not sounding like you have a fart cannon doesn't equal SQ...not even close

Then you can use something more effective than components too

I never called you an idiot, I said you were being one. When you throw out the term SQ, or SQL, or LSQ or anything with the letter Q in it you should understand its meaning. If you don't want people who are truly into a good sounding system to respond, then use the appropriate terminology and it won't be an issue. What I don't understand is why the world who wants it loud and loud alone always asks for something else.

Welcome to the IHoP
I almost edited LB's poll to include another option, but I thought I should overstep my.... aargh.

Welcome to the IHoP
I know, but it was at least an LS series. I had to pick vehicles carefully as an under 5sec 0-60 and 13 sec 1/4 isn't that fast, but in an SUV it is.

Time for a change
Actually it is you being an idiot. If the posts only included Loud & SPL it would never happen, but when you misapply terminology and then even worse bash something you don't know anything at all about it is absurd. If terminology was used even somewhat correctly it wouldn't be a problem.

Welcome to the IHoP
I'd like to see it corner

I wouldn't buy an epicenter but put your dough into an H701 instead. It will open a ton of "keep up" options.

15's for extended cab truck, SSA, eD, Mach5, AA?
The one real important bit of information you left out is how much space you have....oh and don't buy from Ben @ eD.

But you can't blame a product on an idiot; however, I do know of a couple people that had issues that did things right but as a percentage that number is small.

Midbass
Peerless SLS 8", but I'd run them IB.

It really depends on what you mean by hear the words, if that is truly your only concern it really won't be all that hard. Do you have any processing available?
