  1. Overpriced crap. Should be thrown in with the likes of flea market junk. To top it off they look frickin' stupid as well.
  2. I don't care what you buy, but find it very amusing that you don't like quality but seem to like crap. Perhaps you should define what you are looking for instead of phishing for compliments on your choices which so far haven't been very educated. People on the site are here to help, but by not giving them information to steer you in the right direction it is very hard to help....and of course frustrating which is why you are getting some snide remarks.
  3. It's taking you longer to do this install than the length that I normally keep most of my cars.

Crap, I realized I hadn't yet kept my promise to you Tom. Well, this stopped our "check out the bearings only" dissassembly. Only 50 miles on the rebuild and already into the copper on main #3, #1 was nearly there and we didn't pull the rest as he might sell the engine as a short block whole. I don't know if you can see the wear in the honing marks, but I will tell you that the last time I pulled apart a 150k mi 3.5 Bm'er engine it didn't look this worn and this bitch only has 50 miles. The honing marks were still there, but the grooves worn into them makes me wonder. :( Still not sure what Josh wants to do.

i bet so. i wanna take a lil ride in one of those Its a nice car to ride/drive in, original 396/325hp so its not exactly fast but it does get out of its own way. Needless to say I'm smart enough not to go try and drag race it, I have a pretty good idea on how many new factory cars would beat it/give a run for its money, and its a lot. I just love driving it, it handles great, awesome throttle response, decent brakes, drives straight, etc, etc. I just can't figure out why I haven't driven a car that I enjoy driving as much as the Chevelle, I've driven lots faster cars, just not one thats as nice to drive. Its Olympic Gold with black stripes down the side, looks pretty nice still too. There are a few pictures floating around the site if you are good with the search function. My 68 Galaxie was by far the most comfortable car I have ever owned. By far.
  7. That is subs not a system which is why Jim asked.

What is your flow rate? Do you have a storage tank in the basement or buried in the yard? Basement, not sure on the flow but it is a big arse tank and I believe a 2hp well motor.

What did I do? you were helpful; however, after a little more research I think I need a more involved test than Sears can provide since I have a well. If it were city water it'd be fine.

I think there might be an anode/cathode system at their place too. I know there's copper pieces in the pipe that are charged; they get changed every year or 2. No worries & no real need. I was really just curious if for some abstract reason someone on here really knew the effectiveness of different types. I can't find any water treatment forums, lol.

scratch that link try this one http://www.trutechnology.com/products/line...r/ssld6_08.html Basically a pre-amplifer. Boosts your outputs allowing lower gain on your amps. If everything is right in your install it is completely unecessary.

I know how to google as well Thanks for googling for me. I should have finished the question which is really what type to get. The sales guys for all of these companies are complete sleazebags and getting real information out of them is pretty much not possible. To top it off, I have seen bids for the same equipment that "i need" that vary from $3k to $18k. More curious as to the difference between chemical pumps, oxygenators, and electrolytic types for both reliability and true effectiveness. My iron content is on the border of different ones and of course I'd hate to regularly have to add chemical.

I'm not sure if it's the same problem that you have, but we had really hard water at my parents' house. We used a salt-based water softener for years, and then switched to an activated charcoal filter (I think) a few years ago. I've got 22 grains of hardness as well, but I am mostly concerned with the iron as it basically triples your effective hardness. I don't think your definition of hard water and what we have are in the same ballpark. Charcoal filters typically remove organics and chlorine, but for hardness you need a salt based device (or so I think).

For 4x the price you can get an electrolytic hydrolysis device that does a better job of oxidizing, but I don't like the price or the fact that putting an anode/cathode setup in any nasty water solution just can't be good for a long time.

I suppose cats can be good for dog food.
