pro gear regularly has switches to go from 110 to 220 That means I can get a Crown or QSC to use for sub duties far cheaper. Just make sure it has a switch before buying...not all of them do.

Build something from a known builder instead. i was looking for ideas on replacement speakers that were equivalent to those in the old setup or i may just recone them and see what happens Recone or build something else, you cannot just replace the drivers and get good results.
  3. VJ, it is really pointless to consider whatever frequency the manufacturer is using. The bottom line is it should be defined by your install and your install only. In your case you will be able to run closer to 3k the higher the slope you run on the crossover. In reality since you really only care about loud you should protect those drivers by crossing much higher. If you are using a 6dB slope I would start at 6k lowest and maybe work down from there. They might even need to be crossed higher as those are not at all designed to play low and the spec that the manufacturer is giving is overly generous. Try 6k send them some power and listen to them. Turn down the frequency and when they start to stress turn it back up a bit. Experiment by listening to different slopes. When you listen to them have all other drivers OFF. Of course in this process you are going to realize how unecessary it is that you bought so many... The XM6 is the CHEAPEST crossover that is even close to being worth a chit. If you look at something else more "value" oriented run away from it. The 6 is okay, although there are many better options for your strange needs it should be fine.
  4. More cone area gives you more output in that case. If the drivers had identical motors that would pretty much be the only difference. Of course with different motors come different responses.
  5. Another useless post by you, perhaps reading the thread would help. Not only are type R's crap, Jeremy's avatar a joke, but the thread is about crossovers not drivers. As for Smondo, the X03 might be fine but I'd really encourage you to look for a DX-28 or XM-7 for not much more dough.
  6. Not at all correct, you are completely 100% wrong. There is no right answer as it is driver and box dependent, but the post above isn't even close to right. So your going to tell me that a 10 in a ported box will play just as low as a 15 ported? the only box i have experinced in a 10 inch getting low is a bandpass/trans line i built in school. Sure can. Stupid to compare them in ported boxes anyways.

The little plastic rods that are in the points of the collars of decent dress shirts. collar stays...you are supposed to remove them when you launder...I also prefer metal ones as they hold your collar nicer. And yes I grew up working in a drycleaners so I am a little anal about how my clothes look.

Hell on my machine you can see it. When I extract fresh ground I get 1" of crema, when it is just 8 hours old I only get 1/3...tasting it is even easier. Come visit and I'd be glad to demonstrate.

New old car still has factory deck... 1.5 din to work with, 6.75" door speaker opening factory in front doors. Target max budget, who cares, lol. Spent 6 grand last spring on my spl stint. 2grand seems like the max i'd be willing to spend on a beater tho. Any tweeter size limitations? I shouldn't have asked max, I really meant by what do you mean cheap max. You say $1k but it includes the amp and sub, I was referring to the "cheap" front stage portion. Also knowing the processing would help, I assume it is your 8455... Planning on fiberglassing door pods since i have tons of glass and stuff laying around. large format tweets should fit possibly even a 7" midrange. its all just in the thinking process i really hate having no sound though. I was thinking like 400 for the front soundstage, don't have any processing capabilities right now. I'll go look at decks and compare my options unless someone has an h701 with supporting deck for around 400-500$. I was thinking for subs i would once again bug my buddy jacob and try out 2 sd 10"s either isobaric or a small ported box tuned to 32hz. Processing choice first, drivers second. Don't you have an 8455?

Wish they'd hurry up and release the JBL MS-8. Looking at cars with built in Nav and don't feel like swapping it out for the W205/Blackbird/H701 combo even though I'd obviously prefer to find one without and add the Alpine schtuff. I really want a 3 way which kills the HXE option and don't feel like running a clean sweep and a proc as I am not sure if I have room for anything but PDX or Audison's in the install anyways. Aargh.
  17. I will only briefly be in Austin and it will be the middle of the day so this trip out it probably won't work. If you haven't noticed I am a bit of a work a holic and regularly put in 70hr weeks so time is a bit strange in my life.
  18. Generically speaking I manage a nationwide set of sales people that do acoustic & vibration consulting work in industry.

Had a lucrative meeting with the Pres and CEO of my company today, think the three of us just bought controlling shares of a technology company that could get HUGE.
