What model analyzer? I have a full gamut of manuals for all of them. My guess would be a 2144 FFT analyzer or a 2032 Realtime as they were the most prevalent "box" analyzers. Anyway throw out the model number and I can give you the skinny on it and its value.
  2. I always mean rms. I've had 160 on them as well. Did you torque it down evenly? Is the driver rattling in its installation? What size baffle is it mounted to? Any isolation clay?

    lol
  9. Where are the mounting locations and how do you rank the importance of midrange to midbass. ANy particular music preference? How much power does that amp do for four channels at 4ohm?
  10. The lanzar is a piece of crap as are some of the Coustics. You have to be a bit careful when buying processors... I am also curious as to what Coustic/Lanzar you are looking at that you think can do a 3 way?
  11. You don't have the power for the Alpine, the RE isn't worth buying, and the w0's are not anywhere near my favorite sub. If you just want louder why not start with a better box for getting loud.
  12. The speaker location is a little dependent on processing; however, generically the midbass in the doors and the rest in the kicks is a good start. 3 way: H701 & some sort of Alpine controller, Pio P9 combo, pc and Behringer 2496, Clarion 9255, Ural CDD, PPI DCX are pretty much the starting point. There are a couple other ways but for a first shot I'd lean with the above. Actually for me, I'd either do the Behringer route or a touch screen controller (w200) and the H701.

No to both questions. High voltage preouts aren't really all that important. You are being too nice. 8v is unecessary and a line driver is a waste of money. If you don't have noise higher voltage won't do anything, if you do have noise you have another issue you should fix instead.

I wouldn't believe the function generator then.

Neil, if you are older than 20 that is really pretty normal. Do realize to that if you were listening to music on the way in it may not be gone, but just "masked". To amuse yourself test your hearing on your own right away in the morning and then go for a drive with the windows down for 20 minutes and check it again. It wouldn't be unusual to lose a kHz or even 2.
  17. And how much tuning you really want to have to do. The pro's are pretty simple: monster midbass, near point source with a mid that covers most of the musical range, and as sparkly on the high end as you want. The cons are also sort of obvious: work, install time, and tuning time.
  18. Actually looked like real Chicago pizza, which you don't find outside of Chicago normally.

    Interesting.
  20. Nice work, would love to see more build pics though.
  21. I agree but will leave off Solen as they aren't in the right country and since I know where they get their drivers I will just shop there. For subs, it is a no brainer as well SSA.
  22. Nice work, love the real baffle and flares!
  23. To compare an eq you need a purpose otherwise it is pointless. Personally if it is a graphic and doesn't have at least 16 bands l/r I find them pretty useless. In particular for you since you are running horns you need a TON of eq. 31 bands a side would be really, really helpful.
  24. Perhaps it isn't breakup but a physical issue. Can you describe the sound?
  25. I hope I can pull that off in mine. I noticed there are alot more little rattles in my 02 then there were in my 90 model. I can only imagine how horrible a nbs chevy sounds with a large substage and no deadning Last GM I am going to own, but convenient for you mine is an 02. You can deaden everything you need in it, but get ready for the window seals to howl and be louder than the rest of the truck.
