I broke 30 in mine regularly, but it was an E36 and significantly lighter. 27 shouldnt' be too far out of reach unless you mean in city highway then good luck getting 24 as your foot will cause issues since the more you push on the pedal the more fun that car is. Mine was a manual as well.

Home Theater Reciever
Oh, and 7.1 is unnecessary and useless unless you have one hell of a gargantuan room. It might be hard to find only a 5.1 though.

Used is going to be your friend. The real question is what is available used locally?

Thinking about the same, although the 50 is calling as well. Just need to find a better deal than I have so far.

Sound Characteristics of IB?
There are no negatives. You must have only read the first two comments, the second two are sweet! Best alignment you can have in my opinion but I am far from a basshead. As for the install difficulties, I just wanted to be sure you knew what you were biting off as it isn't easy to seal off the trunk from the cabin.

Less power handling, less output, flatter response and lower playing capability. Warning it is by far the most difficult of all installs to do correctly.

Underpowering a sub
To clarify what flakko said, you really need to look at the average power delivered as if it exceeds the woofers power handling (either mechanical or thermally) you will ruin the driver. In the case of a fully clipped signal on a 200w amp it will be putting out more average power than a 400w playing a nice sine tone. So the short answer is yes to your question, but only if the person operating it is a complete retard and runs really clipped. Had you used the word "average" before your underpowered statement the answer would be a definitive no you cannot blow a sub when the average power is less than it can handle.

career in mobile audio
In fact I would go so far to say that the sure sign of someone who knows nothing about car audio is when they site they are MECP certified. Pretty much everytime I have read or heard that was in the defense of something where the certified person was wrong, usually very wrong.

general enclosure question
Pretty much the other way around. Shrinking the enclosure will reduce your bottom end but increase power handling (assuming it was in an optimal one to begin with)

Welcome to the IHoP
There are differing accounts of what it can tow, but surely with the 6.1 and a tranny that can support it yanking my 1500lb sled trailer around isn't an issue and the 4k lb boat trailer never needs to go far so I'd exceed it if I had to without regard for the truck. In particular if the company leased it for me....I'd probably buy it out at the end though since a 100k mile lease in 3 years couldn't really leave any residual value. The main problem with them is the location of the exhaust pipes makes them super ugly with a hitch. Oh well, I wouldn't really see the back end that often anyways. I'd do a tb ss but I can't sit in them comfortably as the general missed the demographic accounting for people built like me. I need another 3" of headroom and of course could lower the seat, but then my legs would get a bit tired on long drives. The Jeep has a ton of room.
