Ooooh, its exciting. 1982 Honda CB750k 4k miles, I paid $650 and there isn't a scratch on the beast. I actually only bought it to take my test on since I have ridden a lot, just never legally. I can't stand the high revving rice burning crap though so I have no desire to keep it. Air cooled or bust IMO.

I'd do a modded Duramax diesel with an upgraded Allison tranny in a HD 3/4ton fully loaded Chevy. I'd rather have the Ford in the diesel anyday, but both are rather overkill for pulling less than 4k lbs at most. Plus something smaller in the garage never hurts. Not many people around here has had good luck with keeping the 'strokers running past 100k miles without dumping some serious money into it. i've only heard of problems with the newer, smaller powerstrokes. the older 7 ltr ones seem to be ok. IIRC, but then again, it's a ford product, so i could be completely backwards on that, lol. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I think it is the pre-93's that had troubles, my inlaws have run their last one to over 400k with no issues. The engine actually isn't a Ford product but a Navistar International one, but of course what would a semi-engine manufacturer know about making diesels compared to the General.

The only thing I care about in headlights is how well they work and John hit it on the head, the real blue ones suck as headlights.
  4. How about behind the passenger seat?
  5. You can't even start talking crossovers without discussing drivers.... Peel n Seal I wouldn't use in your doors, it will fall off. Go get some Raamat or Second Skin.

    Mmm. bananas
  9. With his budget Acids route is pretty much the only logical solution.
  10. ///M5 replied to Ga foo 88's topic in Home Audio
That would still be a 3 way and one that wasn't anywhere near optimized together. For the budget range they are in I also think a simpler 2 way will sound way better. That TB I'd really only be interested in for a simple "full range" small solution...something I hope I never need. If you haven't ever built any home audio gear, I'd highly recommend building someone else's design the first time around. If they aren't perfect you will learn a lot more altering them than building your own the first time out. Plus it is likely they will work as you can review reviews of them before building. Usually they are designed by people who have listened to lots and lots of drivers as well, which in all reality is always the best way to pick out drivers. I love auditioning new ones.

Just got permission from the w to put in a lift if I sell the motorcycle. Considering I rode it once last year, I'd call that a trade and I feel like I won. There was no future exclusion of another motorcycle just this one going

wow, that is a bit early. I was shocked how many got down like that by 25. At least there is one thing in life that I am slow with
  14. ?? lacking on upper frequencies. It is a sub and shouldn't play above 50hz anyways. As for your question on limiting the box size with 2 subs, well its wrong they still need as much as they did alone. If you want to keep the lows you had before, you have to keep the box volume where it was at as well. Your port size is a little light but you will probably be okay. --however, all of these need to be addressed before the whole box/port big enough can be
  15. You can't use those two subs together and the Crunch amp is a bad idea. To really nail this down. What is the budget and what exactly does he have?
  16. ///M5 replied to Ga foo 88's topic in Home Audio
You'd be better off building a normal 2 way if you ask me...adding the third driver is a lot of extra variables. In particular if this is your first build you really shouldn't do more than a 2 way.

    How old are you?
  18. *cries Too bad, that was a great amp and that never should have happened. That one has abuse written all over it
  19. You aren't listening. You need to experiment. Perhaps you should first just use the stock locations and figure out what you don't like and then describe it and we can start adjusting. There is no "pre-configured" solution for an Explorer. All vehicles, and more importantly all drivers will have DIFFERENT sweet spots. You need a baseline to start improving. In your case I would highly encourage you to start out with a paper cone mid that has no funny anomalies in the response and a tweeter of your liking. My guess is you will like the metals, but perhaps I will be surprised.
  20. Not quite sure you have asked a question. You say you need help with port tuning and what frequency but haven't described your needs or desires. Choosing 33-34hz at the moment seems to be arbitrary from your post which is not the way to do it. What are your needs and goals and why aren't you excited about RE's recommendations?

My boss is convinced he should lease me a new vehicle. It needs to be able to haul a 19" rack that is 2.5 tall. It needs to be able to tow my tows. It needs to excite me a little. This leaves the Jeep SRT8 and the Q7 and if he wants to pay for either I will drive them
  24. ///M5 replied to mrray13's topic in Off Topic
I need something to pull the sled trailer and my boat otherwise I wouldn't be interested either. The Q7 would do that just fine.
  25. ///M5 replied to mrray13's topic in Off Topic
I wouldn't mind a diesel, but if I get one it will probably be the Q7 v12.
