Don't think you can make your mug look well that....
  2. SQ isn't made of stuff but installation savy, you can have $3 amps and $2 speakers and still have a hell of an SQ system. Having expensive gear and setting it up for SPL will NOT make an SQ system. And yes, there is no compromise as they are opposites by definition. SQ - perfect reproduction of the actual recording (aka no peaks) SPL - loud as possible (aka as peaky as possible) I never said you can't have a Loud SQ system, but by definition if you want one of the two you can't have the other. There is one other major, major difference. SPL typically refers to subwoofers only while SQ is a whole system. You can't have SQ with just subs, but you could surely have SQ without subs. ***As for the warning, I won't tolerate misinformation to develop on this site. You can have your beliefs and desires but if you mislead others you will be warned.

Nearly warned LB for posting mis-information. Hopefully not overstepping my bounds, but while my attitude is definitely elitist his generally doesn't do anything but confuse people who don't know better and we can't have that.

Rock on, thanks Tom. Should be a good reference thread for dipshits now!
  6. You have a fart cannon which is obvious from the pictures. Stop claiming differently. SQ is easy to define, reproducing the music as it was recorded. This isn't my definition, but a real one. I am not bashing SPL at all, I don't care what you have but you have no business defining what you have with the letters SQ in it at all. Your definition is jacked and if you continue to try and push it that way on this site, you will be warned. Oh, I play the bass as well...and the guitar and the piano. I still like my music to be reproduced as close to the recording mix as possible with adjustments of course for poor studio work. To top it off I have a little experience with the terminology SQ as I have been measuring acoustics and vibration for a living for more than the past 10 years, this includes doing a lot of Sound Quality measurements as well as jury testing. Perhaps PhD acousticians don't know chit though and you know better either way your falsifying of a definition here I won't allow.

I was about 10 feet away and the new world record is 180.1 dB the 2 loudest trucks there (180.1 and 176.x) were the quietest on the outside Please post this in the thread!! Be good to have something to point idiots to. which thread? Mark's about the competition.
  8. Usually a fan and that is about it. Considering it is a Dayton it may be cooled passively though as it isn't a pro audio amp. The reason I want a plate is it is easier to hide in the living room, I have a big p-a Crown for the home theatre room already.
  9. You will give up midbass with the Exclusive compared to the others, but the midrange detail is superb. There is no best out of the group, they are all nice but there will be one that you like better. Understanding your goals would help And yes, doing pods would be a mistake. If it were a 3 way and you were just podding the midrange fine, but in a 2way it is damn impossible to get right and will require you to build the pod many, many times before it sounds good.
  10. what kind of car? If you currently have no processing you need a very simple driver to implement, the best out the list for that is the CA18 the breakup on the L will kill you otherwise
  11. 3 ways everywhere will be a HUGE mess. It will be super destructive to your sound stage but more importantly to your frequency response. No rears is the best option, but if you are somehow convinced otherwise make sure that the rears can be turned off. They are really a waste of money no matter what the purpose.
  12. I'm with John, waveguide or not it is a mistake.
  13. The only advantage of a 15 over a 12 is cone area. Your whole it can play lower argument is a joke and not at all the case, small or large today's subs can get down and boogie.
  14. A 100lbs or so won't really slow your car down all that much, I wouldn't worry about it.
  15. Happy Birthday Mang!

Shit, any of you remember where the Alt-S fix for Firefox thread is? The last update mulched by Alt-s mod and forums suck now.
  17. While it may be a spot to mount the drivers, the question I have would be why?
  18. From the way you've described it, it's just plain SQ. The assumption that SQ can't be loud is totally wrong. I don't know where people get that idea from, maybe the basshead crowd hears us listening to something other than rap and assumes SQ is for the dainty and weak If I want to reproduce what the London Symphony Orchestra sounds like at fortissimo, that sure isn't going to be very quiet Nor very easy with sometimes near 80dB of dynamic range. Would sound like complete hell on a non-SQ system

a bit slow in the hop lately.
  21. Where is the location you are mounting them and is there a reason you are sealing them instead of just doing them IB:?
  22. So glad it isn't a plate as I'd be without $250
  23. One other thing to note, quiet steel has a constrained dampening layer sandwiched between two layers of metal thus insulating it both acoustically and electrically. The cure of course is a clean connection on both sides, but I'd still prefer the frame in particular in a truck.
  24. Welcome, it is nice here

    Hopefully from a distance
