High Wattage Passive Components
Kev, just pointing out your typo in your first post. You linked him to the right unit but swapped the 5 & 4. The 8445 does not have adequate crossovers, but the 8454 and 8455 surely do. (8443 as well in the 84xx series) edit: others do as well of course, and I only bring it up to insure the reader or other readers don't go buy that one.

Welcome to the IHoP
I have met their builder, remember that Chevelle with the Boss stripes sort of on it I posted a while back? That was their test bench.

fi q 12" and what amp??
Huh, it is if you can give that label to any sub and not a system. Not quite sure where or why you asked that. In particular compared against what you currently have you should be extremely happy, the L7 does nothing to make me happy at all. Either way, the sub will only be as good as the designed/build on the enclosure you put it in. If you want loud you can make it loud, if you want it to blend perfectly with your front stage you should be able to build a box to do that as well.

Newbie...Rl-S
I agree you say not an SQ fan and that means no to the IB, plus even though there is no box I consider the IB installation the most difficult and time consuming. Way more work than building a box. Just a little FYI free air and IB are NOT the same. Free air literally means playing in a free condition, IB is similar but the back wave and front wave are completely isolated from each other. There is no such thing as a good free air car subwoofer installation. It would be like setting a raw driver in your back seat.

Welcome to the IHoP
And hard to find GOOD old crossovers for sale. There's a reason my XM7 is sitting on shelf covered in dust. Part of the reason I am not jumping up and down to sell my DX-28, but if I were to it would pretty much only be to someone on here that needed it.

Which Amp
I am pretty much just going to X2 all of that.

NOOB Question
Some headunits have either or and some have both, easy to find out though.

High Wattage Passive Components
Sonic is funny and states the numbers at 14.4. The amp is truly rated at 90wx4 at a normal voltage.

If you use that deck and those amps, you still can't go active without adding a processor. I would suggest a different headunit for that reason alone.

amp for active
Grab the Sundown 100.4 quick http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...showtopic=10634 $300 and you are set!

Subs I bought are the wrong ohms..
I assume you have done the big three with at least 1/0 and wired the amp appropriately? If you have you shouldn't have any issues, those SD are unbelievably stable but doing idiotic things with them at under an ohm could easily create problems. Run intelligently down there will be fine!
