It does seem to bastardize everything to have an SQ setup and ask for mp3. For the sake of carrying lots of music though it is nice, especially on a boat where stuff seems to float away periodically.

If anyone wants to be rid of a headunit that does active, let me know. The M is donating its crossover to bookshelf design and needs a headunit. I would prefer one that does mp3's since it will probably end up in my boat when I finally save up for an offboard processor for the car.

You really shouldn't just use a generic crossover. And before someone can build you one you need to measure the impedance curve and frequency response of both your tweeter and mid.

At 60Hz the wavelength of sound is almost 19ft. I'd worry a heck of a lot more about mid to mid cancellation than sub to mid. To cure or check that I'd try to swap out the polarity on one pair of mids and see if it is better or worse. Turn down that crossover until they can't take it anymore and then turn it up just a hair. Easy to check sub cancellation too, turn it on and off and see what is different. While you are doing it swap the polarity as well.

Not find, either make or run speaker wire and go active.
