  1. My house is insured for $1.8M, lol. Wish it would be wiped out by a tornado when no one was home!
  2. Welcome to MN. Shit ain't cheap up here.
  3. And that is probably conservative.
  4. 5000 SqFt at $300/sq ft = $1.5M so that isn't a good idea.
  5. Seriously? My windows are about what most of my neighbors pay in real estate tax per year although a couple are worse. One is nearly $110k/yr.
  6. Windows alone are near $60k
  7. I have a pretty good idea what it will be. I just hope on its own it isn't a jumbo loan...
  8. The bid is for: new windows removing the 3 fireplaces from the house moving the staircase knocking down all the walls on the main floor moving the bathroom on the main floor adding a garage stall adding a master suite above the current garage re-doing the basement moving the laundry room upstairs ....and some more.
  9. Based on the last sentence there I would 86 all three brands you referenced. Re has gone the way of the dog house, DD focuses on single note customers, and Sundown at that price level isn't a great deal. Not that the SSA is your only choice, but in your budget it will be really hard to beat. Definitely a substantial improvement on your old Rli.
  10. Still waiting for the bid on our house project. Considering it has taken 3 weeks to put together I am scared.
  11. Super jelly
  12. And the set is generic anyways. Meaning ie the crossover components weren't chosen for your speakers but any of the ones they could ship in that set. Single driver trade is no problem. No worse than it was brand new anyways.
  13. The Gcon is seriously bang for the buck one helluva a buy. Tons of other subs in other categories, but for $200 yikes.
  14. Perhaps $75 for a recone or $194 for a sub that is a step up from the Rli. http://store.soundsolutionsaudio.com/products/gcon-10-sound-solutions-audio-10-750w-gcon-series-subwoofer.html Just say you add a $75 recone to your Rli. Street value is < $75 for it since you don't know the T/S and have a frankenwoofer. There is a reason why... I'd seriously just chalk it up to a loss and call it a day. That or spend $100 on a woofer tester or find someone who will test it for you. Either way, don't expect it to keep up with tons of other woofers in the sub $250 category. No way, no how it will be the same as it was.
  15. Indeed. Have to revert to re- realizing other people suck so you should be really happy to be you.
  16. Used or new will work the same.
  17. Everything is a compromise in car audio. Yay!
  18. Interesting, I've never had any melt. I also classically apply it to the expose side so it would only leak on the cone, but that has been solely because I didn't have room for a 3D baffle like that in any install.
  19. Personally if they don't provide T/S parameters I wouldn't be interested in a rebuild. Even then I am wary since you won't know what you will get until after it is built. Luckily it is just bass which is rather easy to make sound good, but the savings of a recone versus a new woofer isn't all that when you can no longer get an OE recone.

    tease...
  21. It doesn't matter, just use what sounds best. That is the trouble with playing music in a cabin, it doesn't behave like it would in a free field environment. ...but yes when you flip the wires twice it is back to normal.
  22. Crap. Some of the outlets work in my master. Obviously either a receptacle went bad or something in the wall. Any tricks for chasing down where the power stops?
  23. Indeed. I bought spare replacement F1 Status tweets brand new for $30/piece which when you realize the MSRP was $4000 for the set it shows what you are buying with name brand gear. They better honor the warranty...
  24. Depends on where it is and your tolerance. In normal listening I surely don't want mine above 20', but you and I are probably different cats.
