We've had this conversation before and I know exactly where you live. Steer/heifer really aren't all that different when it comes to kicking and neither are very accurate. If it weren't for government price fixing on milk there would be almost NO cows outside of MN, WI, IA and a bit of the surrounding area. CA/FL only have dairy cows due to the fact that the price of milk goes up the further you get from Eau Claire, WI. And of course, where dairy cows grow well so do Beef. My family alone has well over 500 head so I have seen a few cows in my days.
