It does make me wonder what the "weighting" curve for a TL mic is. I am not even sure Termlab knows though as they surely don't post chit on their site. I'd like to use a real mic to correlate to TL results as it wouldn't be that hard if I knew the waiting curve. And no matter what their site says, my method would be way more repeatable.

As you know, my background really isn't in lots of installations or tons of practical knowledge but I did work for Bruel & Kjaer for five years doing acoustic consulting...

It is a problem with measurement mics too, which is why most real measurement mics are 1/2" or smaller. The real high frequency mics are only an 1/8" and of course measurement mics have correction curve electronic filters to compensate for having multiple wavelengths on the diaphragms as well.

If you have a one foot wavelength coming out of a speaker it will be a spherical source which is the response you are looking for out of a speaker, but when you get to high frequencies you get the wavelengths to stack up constructively and then you have amplification at those frequencies.

When the baffle of the speaker becomes "significant" compared to the wavelength you are playing through the speaker it causes some erroneous gain. One of the main reasons why spherical speakers are "the best" <---huge generalization that isn't complete.

I am going to build a set of mini-monitors, but my driver choice changes hourly.

That is definetely one side effect of the laser eye surgery, my eyes are teh sandy in the am now.
