Easy to check if you found the offending freq's, just replay them with the leads switched which of course you already know. As for the sliding of the stage it sounds like it sure could be phase to me or at least some sort of interference. Is there anything else you can do to make it change?

Here's the only Unimog I've been in. Landslide stranded us a couple days on the wrong side of a road in Chile, they finally got a Unimog out to cross the washed out areas and get us accross. Wish you could see more of the road in the pic, oh wait there wasn't any of it left.

I think ceiling mount or aperiodic into the engine bay is your best bet.

I actually had the same feeling when I drove one, it didn't feel any faster than my M which is about 6 and 14 sec.
