  1. A little more research and indeed WMA lossless seems to be the ticket.
  2. I was under the impression that it wasn't really lossless... Any thoughts on sound cards? I really only need 2 chn, but have no problems buying for the future. A good a/d and d/a is required as my stereo equipment is pretty old school. (My cpu will be connected to an Adcom amp that is currently collecting dust). I am looking at: Audiotrak Prodigy 7.1 Chaintech AVS-710 (good 2 chn d/a but have no idea on a/d) M-audio Audiophile M-audio Revolution 5.1 or 7.1 E-MU 0404 I am willing to give up gaming sounds for music SQ so it won't be an Audigy or X-Fi card. If the Chaintech had a good a/d for recording 2 chn, it would be the choice. $23 at Newegg with a Wolfson DAC for 2 of the analog channels and a good digital out for the future....
  3. Hey any of you try to compare a FLAC lossless file with a real one? I am just starting to rip my music collection to my PC. My thoughts were to rip it twice. The first time in FLAC to backup to DVD and another in MP3 just to leave on the machine. If the lossless truly is such I would think someone would be coming out with a new HU that plays DVD format FLAC discs, but of course that would be logical. If FLAC sucks is there anything else that might do what I am looking to? The main reason I want to do the FLAC to DVD is in if they change it in the future I don't want to go through the reloading of all the CD's again as it is a serious PITA!
  4. Your welcome. How are they lookin' Supa?
  5. Spend the money you'd save by only using one set on the install instead it will definetely pay off.

Oh, only 1835mi for me. I'd need to add NOS to get there quick enough.

Not fun to sit in the fetal position for too long, but wth is Supa my size or is your front seat that compromised.

If you voice your frustration with the day manager tomorrow and how it ruined a good portion of your night I am sure they will (and should) comp you something whether it is a nice breakfast, dinner, free night. They are usually pretty good at that.

LOL. I hate staying in hotels like that
  10. I hate the garage clean part, I just did that myself . How does it sound and how much did you use?
  11. Oh, I'd probably make a new grill as it will be the slickest option, but they will sound just fine inverted.
  12. Not quite sure I understand you question, so this might answer it. Both are sinusoidal waves with 360 degrees of phase. By summing the sinusoidal waves you can make any waveshape that your speaker plays back including square waves--just like a voltage wave. To simplify my description above, think of using a test CD with just a 1kHz test tone on it and that it will be coming from not just the center of the cone but the whole cone surface. With a sine wave (voltage) driving the speaker it creates a disturbance in the air and makes a acoustic wave if you imagine you are playing a sine tone on infinite repeat from anyone spot on the speaker it will go through a full 360 degrees before repeating itself. Since the speaker cone isn't flat there will be a different distance to a target (mic) from each different spot on the cone so the wave will arrive at a different times. Since there is a little delay and the frequencies were created at the same time it will have to arrive at a different spot in the phase of the wave..

Man I am too hungover to do anything...argh.
  14. As I said in my previous post it will be inaudible, especially in a car but if by shape of the cone you mean angle or surface features it would only cause a little phase shift. It is sort of the same problem you have if you move your tweeter and mid a ways away from each other only it is happening on a much smaller scale. If your cone has enough of a slant to give you say a 1" difference the sound wave propagating from that spot on the cone will have a 1" headstart or have a 1" phase difference than a wave propagating from the center of the speaker. At a frequency with a wavelength of 36" it would be a 10 degree phase difference, on a frequency with a wavelength of 2" it would be a 180 degree phase difference and so on. Of course this was simplified for the example as sound waves will travel in all directions and as it propogates from its point source and there will be interference from all of the waves, but again your not going to hear this.
  15. That is what I need this morning to make the ringing go away!

I gotta run, buddy of mine is returning his leased car tomorrow and said if I put in his stock speakers back in and brought dinner I could have his Boston's. He thinks they are Pro6.5 coax's, not sure but will find out. Not going to let those pass up for nearly free.

They are the hardest ones to find to.
  19. Lol, if you have a set of tires you want to 'wear out' I'll help pay for the gas to dayton just so I can ride along while you're wearing them out... Anybody know ~ when I should have the wire.... Nick, how thick is the wire as I'm going to have to drill holes in my pods for it.... Well I don't have the heart to buy 18's when I haven't worn the rubber off the 17's. Then I can put shows on the 17's too.

Oooo, a 4 stroke. Since you are ready though, you know it won't snow. I was going to buy a snowmobile 5 years ago, but it hasn't snowed since hardly. Except a few random big storms. I keep looking though maybe this year.

    FM = Fvckin magic
  22. ///M5 replied to mrray13's topic in Off Topic
Indeed sounds like the wire, or a connection. Otherwise known as an FM problem.
