Welcome to the IHoP v.2
That post reads really funny if you don't know that a mag is for a gun. Mmm, stripper clips and a speed loader.

What are spark plugs? It's a commonrail diesel. These things we use when we for some reason care more of HP than TQ and don't give a shit about gas mileage.

5.0 V8 swap - converting 2dr explorer to AWD v8
Intake was a waste. Tune is the best you can do but it isn't worth it. Will cost as much as the truck.

Welcome to the world of compromise. I would ignore the 15-20k....but I also wouldn't stress that much about the off axis response of the mid, but I am a HUGE fan of mid-bass.

PE uses the manufacturers plot, Zaph uses what he measures. I'd personally take the third party measurement over PE. There also may be methodology differences in the acquisition. It is far from trivial to do the measurements. Most people think you can just point a mic and boom, far from the case. If you have conflicted ones though and want input, throw links or plots up in your thread

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
Tried to see a Chevy SS and SRT Charger today as well. Those I think are but ugly, but am curious on the interiors as that matters the most.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
Went out looking for the smallest fun car that I could fit the 4 of us in.

Real question is more simple. Will I like forcing my kids to climb in over the seat or go through the back door. And more importantly, how does that balance with how much easier and nicer it is for me to get into the 2 door with the larger doors.

Funny as well. I've liked the 4 door F80 M3 > 2 door M4. Today I sat in a gray M3 and gray M4. M4 looked significantly better, but there was an all black M3 around the corner and it looked better than the M4.

Sat in the new Camaro SS too. Forgot about that. Surprisingly I fit. Shocked to find 2 on a random lot one with sunroof and one without. The one with wasn't so good. Matches my feeling on on the ATS-V. Camaro SS + FI = price of ATS-V

Boss has an X6 5.0 and I bet it takes your car. Seriously impressive. I really, really, really wanted the X6M when I bought the Caddy but taking my car allowance and adding $375 to it per month I couldn't do. Had the 5.0 fit in the free category for me I would have probably got one.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
I didn't say that. Was referring to how I fit. I am all legs, the seat moves to a position where my feet and legs have more space. I was shocked.

Apple, apple, apple, orange. Force the power & box size all to be the same based on your car. Currently they aren't.

I had an 02. Kicks in that truck wouldn't work with my size 16's and sitting position, the dash is terrible for getting anything for a response so you are left with sails and some separation struggles or off axis like hell in the door. On a positive note, it is easy to get monster midbass from the doors.

A Bentley Continental kit car that fits on a Tahoe AWD frame would be perfect.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
I am shocked at the interior space of the M3. It is bigger for where I need it than the M5. The M4 is awesome for getting in and out of when I don't have the kids, but shit when I do. Pretty much nicer than everything that was a Bentley or Gran Turismo that I sat in today.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
Sat in some fun cars today 2016's BMW M5 BMW M3 BMW M4 Maserati Gran Tourismo - I would fit if the seat rails were lengthened Maserati Quattroporte - Boo Maserati Ghibli - Don't fit Benteley Continental GT Race - Fuck me I want one Aston Martin Vanquish - So much prettier on paper Aston Martin DB9 - Same problem as the Vanquish. I also fit in neither. Aston Martin Rapide - I fit, but for way less money I'd get a Panamera. I may go back and drive it though, sales guy wouldn't shut up about how it drove for a 4 door. 2015 Jaguar F Type - I could actually own one from a fit perspective. If they can stay somewhat reliable it could be a fun car once it's depreciated for 10 years. 2014 Porsche 911 Targa - boo. Wanted a 997 pretty bad until I sat in this. The M3/4 is WAY nicer. 2013 Mercedes CL550 2012 Mclaren MP4-12 - um, no I can't drive it 2011 Ferrari California - if I had to buy a car today this would have won

5.0 V8 swap - converting 2dr explorer to AWD v8
Take a class or read. Not sure what other method you've found for learning besides though, but please share! You can go fast for not so much money, but don't expect that to last. Have to pay to play. Power adders can get you there quick with the right platform, but the wrong one and you'll end up destroying it. Even with a clean tune on my normally not so easily broken 6l80, all it took was one wot pass to wipe out the 1-2 clutch. Then because it is a truck to support 800hp you need a tranny that will take nearly double if built for a vette. I am 1100lbs heavier that you though. So yeah, I made 12's for one pass and then BAM $7k needed for a tranny that will live. Easiest and cheapest way is nitrous. Shit seriously works. Just pay for a GOOD tuner otherwise you'll fuck yourself fast.

1700w is not a limiting factor, youtube videos don't show you ANY information, and reading one or two specs is useless. The ONLY way to choose a sub is to figure out your box size and then start modeling drivers. Any other method is dumb.

Spend 20 minutes in WinISD and you'll have an answer...or at least better questions. Personally I wouldn't want one.

12 second exploder? ROFL. Up your budget to $25k then NOT including labor. Obviously you can do it for less if it only has to live through a single pass down the strip, but that would be an even bigger waste. I haven't been to the strip in my truck, but minimally am in the low 12's and probably even high 11's. Just parts cost: $13k in power adders, $7k in transmission, $5k in brakes, $2k in suspension and I started out with a V8 rig that needed no engine swap. If I were building a non-FI truck and wanted 12's I'd have a good $6-7k in the short block alone. Costs on the DOHC is even higher. Best part is with your search at the end the value of the truck would be the same as it is today. If you have money to burn, go for it. And yes, I expect that my truck is worth $25,000 less than I have in to it. I knew that going in and don't give a shit.

In a real driver you won't notice the difference between metal and non. The LPG is seriously great off axis. Why are you only looking at SB stuff? I realize there is a misapplied boner on diyma, but they aren't anything special. I've been completely underwhelmed by all of their stuff. Sure it is priced interesting, but the little savings rarely makes up for the harmonic distortion or other general lack of clarity in their response. You can ignore the on axis response on plots completely. You will NEVER sit on axis. A great response on axis will therefore be completely pointless. The only thing you care about is the off. Having the 30 & 60 curves be similar would be helpful though as your left and right tweeters will be at severely different angles. I would also ignore a single point on the curve as that is easily adjusted with eq, but instead focus on the overall response. The less eq tapering you need to do the better. Large format in this case may not buy you much. Fundamentally a 3/4" tweeter will do what you need better than a 1" tweeter, but it will do this by sacrificing the bottom end. Conveniently you can choose a mid to fill in that bottom end, but having some flexibility is nice. I'd pick FR over flexibility though in this particular installation.
