  1. Regularly they need work and he does the work.
  2. Brings $10k in cash to someone on CL. Cleans the car and lists it for $12k. Drives it, when it sells he buys something else. Makes at least an extra $1k/mo doing this.
  3. Guy that works for me buys a different car every 3 weeks. Always funny to see what he is driving. Buys all sorts of high end cars under $10k and flips them.
  4. And kit Kat sucked on my dna
  5. To be fair it is running 4.4.4
  6. After 12 hours I like Verizon even less. Hopefully the coverage at T-Mobile stays OK
  7. Wow - google nexus stock operating >>> HTC sense. Think I like it better than cyanogen as well. Had reflashed my nexus 4 to stock to sell but started using it.
  8. Snow in cheese land. I'm jelly
  9. The one that shocked me the most as no preparation for it in school was the centrifugal stiffening causing normal modes to switch places. Classical mechanics say no. Reality says yes. Guess who goes back and adds factors into classical mechanics to make them make sense. Aha. Could argue temperature is an unknown in this regard and studying it alongside modal response would be useful.
  10. Heat related distortions? Seems plausible. Actually we see major shifts in modal parameters based on temperature. We also measure dynamic stress & strain in non-contact form and if a unit was sensitive enough you'd also see different heating patterns which could be of interest as it may provide further clues on edge effects which are by nature nearly impossible to study.
  11. Ok at $1700 I can't rationalize that. *thinks about how to make my company buy one
  12. LOL... troubled minds think alike! It's cool. I think the one girl we have in the front office has fake tits. The imager showed her tits to be cooler than the rest of her, while my wifes are warmer in most regions. Interesting. It is taking some practice. I looked at the outside of my house (it is ~35F outside) to look for leaks. I was surprised where the leaks were, and will fix some this fall and likely get new windows next spring. They are 7 year old double panes, but show significant heat losses. I can see the studs in my walls, which is kinda cool. I put my hand on the wall for ~5 seconds and walked 10 feet away and could still plainly see my hand print. I even wrote on my dresser with my finger and could see the heat pattern a few seconds later. It is sensitive, but I was hoping for better resolution. I can go to manual range and make it super sensitive. This is how I will find drains and shorts, but it will take some practice to understand how to control it. Auto settings may not be sensitive enough for .5A drains through fuses. For some reason I cannot get it to connect to my cell. It connects to my tablet with no problem. This will take some time and I will aim for some fix time when I am not 4 Choklats in the hole.. It will do what I need it to. That is one cool tool that I would use as a toy daily. My buddy had some $$$$$ db meter and we used it to measure his dogs bark and see who could belch Fart or yell the loudest. His wife was not impressed. It was some German thing I'm sure Sean uses/sells. I'm sure it was $25k or something like that. Give an engineer a tool and he will figure out a way to measure genitals or farts. That'd be danish and made by Bruel & Kjaer. I sold that to Donaldson most likely right before I left. My shit makes that look like a toy, but vibration is way harder to measure than acoustics. I still have B&K mics and the capability to do what that does in my house at all times.

  14. Don't forget dirty
  15. Ok fine. I despise them. How's that for love. Doesn't mean they can't be a good buy for someone else. And unlike the shop owner it isn't because of it working like an amp that I don't like them. He is emotionally charged to lie to get a sale, I have an emotional distaste due to other designs the company makes and promotes.
  16. No, Henry Ford bought the house and moved it to Detroit in the 30's.
  17. Just the Raven above the 2nd door.
  18. Aaaaaaaaaaaaargh. WTFBBQ!!
  19. Too bad it drives like a turd. Tried to want one, couldn't do it. The wife doesn't care all that much but a focus on the interior will make her happy. Infiniti while edgy has nice appointments and it ought to suit her fine. Not as Japan-o-boring as the others either. Drive the newer RX350H. I know, it's a Hybrid, but they are well appointed and with AWD and dual electric motors (one for the front axle and one for the rear) it has an impressive amount of get-up-and-go. Don't expect big fuel economy as the motors are really more for power assist, but they will be better than the Infinity machines... and you will not have to fix anything on it (even brakes) for the first 100K I fit so poorly in them it is really hard for me to want her to have one. That being said if you like them I will peak.
  20. I'd be OK with it until 80K. Nissan is really doing some weird shit lately. We see quite a few (my shop used to specialize in Z cars, and we are still thought of as a Nissan shop). Once shit starts breaking you need to get out from under it ASAP. The 3L and variants of it (the 3.5l is in the Infinity IIRC) are great engines, it's all the bullshit around it that sucks. You will likely have to do a high pressure power steering hose in it, and fuck that hose. I don't care if you like to tinker, let a professional deal with it. It is a complete motherfucker. It is also highly likely that you will come across a MIL on with an ionization code. Don't be alarmed when the shop tells you that you need all 6 coils... you really do. Outside of those 2 little gems, you shoulGd be fine for the first 100K.Thanks. Doesn't sound like a red flag to me. It really isn't on my list, but it fits the need perfectly and the interior is so far ahead of other similar things I am afraid she'll love it in which case I don't want her to see it if I wouldn't buy it.
  21. For the next two nights I am sleeping in Edgar Allan Poe's house.

  23. Seth Any beef with the Infiniti QX60/JX35 which I believe is the Nissan Pathfinder. Would buy a couple year old one and keep it for 5 years probably. ie, from 30k mi to 80k mi and then sell. My wife needs a new rig and if they are horseshit mechanically I won't take her to look at one as I think their interior will probably be her favorite.
  24. More like confusing reality. Everything you read that you based this thread on is misinformation and pointless. The ONLY answer is to buy something reputable and don't look back. All "scientific" reasons you are using to make yourself feel better are wrong. Stop reading wherever you are getting that garbage information and think instead about what matters.
  25. Thinking of a Stang myself. IF I fit. IF it rides like it should. IF my kids fit behind me. I need another garage stall though....
