Welcome to the IHoP v.2
Fuck Intel & AMD. Can't make this more fucking confusing. I want to buy a BRIX or book size PC. miniITX hopefully low enough power requirements that it won't be uber hot hidden in my dash. I want it to fit behind the screen. Have about 7"x9" and a few inches deep. Obviously airflow won't be huge. All sorts of low power options, but I am concerned about horsepower. I don't really need all that mcuh of a pc, but I NEED fast boot. Makes me want an Asus since I know I can tweak those to work. Gigabyte has something they call a Brix though which is more of a real PC in a small case. Priced in such a way I can't really DIY one cheaper too. That and a bang for the buck SSD and I am about ready to go.

4sevens bro I needed a couple cheapies anyways. Figured spending $14 total wasn't a big deal for that. Allows me to upgrade my batteries too

Anyone experimented yet with a Joycon? More specifically making a resistive button or buying some? I can make the steering wheel buttons do what I need, but figure a couple more buttons might be in order.

check out plex, they have client software for just about everything. i have it on a vps so i have music and movies wherever i go, but its mainly geared for what you want. My buddy shares his account with me and he'll get me any movie I ask for within a day or two. He also shares his in-laws watchespn info. Wife has her moms netflix account, so that leaves hulu. I really want local channels as well but the local channels here are 1.5 hours away in Tulsa so the antenna wouldn't pick them up. I'd really like Houston local channels (if I could choose) so I could get my hometown sports. It would be nice to get hgtv and others every now and the. I think there are roku channels that do that. What I do want is to need only one device in the end, and I do already have a Roku, but I'm open to change for an upgrade. ESPN, Fox Sports North, & Food TV are all I need besides over the air. Are they available on anything you've seen?

Options. http://www.display-touch.com/open-frame-displays/cat_2.html 9.7 for sure fits, 10.1 may. Don't give them away, but at least there is an option.

My primary need is to sort quickly and concisely through 750gb of music. 2ndary needs are GPS & Bluetooth. The rest is nice to have stuff like steering wheel controls and backup camera. I won't pick a solution that doesn't let me do all though. The rear camera is rather big. I live on a hill which means trailers must be backed up to exactly. I hook up to one probably close to 40 times a year so that is a need. If it had to be a secondary display that'd be fine. Long term if I build a workshop I'd also like to have whatever I choose be able to connect to a camera in the garage for backing the trailer in. This of course will require Windows. Having my car talk to my home automation system would be sweet to. Android can control, but only as a slave where Windows can even edit the server if necessary. Only question there is how fast can I get my carpc to connect to the wifi at my house...if quickly I can have some automation fun. If not, RFID tags my car might get.

My requirements are really simple compared to that. Radio here sucks so I don't need it. I shouldn't even need a raspberry pi (I don't think). I don't even need a volume knob since the H701 takes care of that. I just need audio from the usb port to get the best quality audio. The biggest issue for me would be linking up the phone and tablet for internet so I can do streaming. The phone already does most of this (bluetooth audio), but it would be nice to hook up an HDD, and fill up the hole in my dash. Uber easy to have Tasker autoconnect for streaming. I think 99% of the people using Timur's ROM do that...if not they are Androitarded

Problem with Android is: Raspberry boots slow and its kludgy to get work as a carpc atm Only the 2012 Nexus 7 can charge and work on a USB Hub at the same time. Also the only solution I've seen with media buttons on screen all the time. The second can be dealt with via the steering wheel but the other is a deal breaker. I won't solder buttons and such and having no access to the unit without removing the dash sucks. Everything has to be smooth. Setting up Tasker to make it do everything "smart" is a pain in the ass. Potential exists though so I'd have to use it. FM Radio is a bitch. SDR Touch works, but meh. Won't run HPTuners/EFI Live All that being said, if that ROM worked on a 10" Nexus 2012 or whatever I'd DEFINITELY do it.

Gotta play with windows in portrait too although I don't have much of a choice for that.

Yes. Maybe a slightly larger one in 16:9 Of course if I find someone who can water transfer print locally it could free up significantly more space. Didn't really want to glass something so visible, but it may be the only option.
