  1. I bought mine on CL
  2. If you put a gun to my head and made me pick, one of the two built here but the one I could buy at near wholesale online versus B&M. That being said, I'd probably pick different if I knew the goals.
  3. Single 8 can easily take as much space as a single 12. Welcome to the world of ported enclosures. Stop guessing at what you want and ask your builder what space you will have. Space ALWAYS determines driver selection, doing it the other way around is idiotic. DD-8's were built to satisfy nuthuggers, not serve a purpose.
  4. Google Orchard Towers and now imagine a backdoor tour where everyone welcomes you in. HOLY SHIT>
  5. Always fun going out with a band. J Understatement.
  6. I imagine a VW bus with a propeller and wings. Hey, I had one of those!
  7. Hope i can start playing with my parts soon. Back in Singapore. Off to hang out at Raffles and then go out with the band after
  8. Half decent box builder can get a ported 12 under the seat.
  9. Two 8's makes no sense. Box size first. Pretty
  10. Wish me luck. Two Malaysian air flights back to back
  11. Huge I'm sure. Unbelievable
  12. How do you "know" just because you built it together? ie, sharing your math calculation wouldn't be a terrible idea.
  13. Can't wait to see how giant these seats are
  14. Actually at the airport. Here comes AirAsia flight number 1!
  15. Where I am right now the buildings do the molding on their own.
  16. New pages sewn in. They bitch like hell when you run out.
  17. pics or
  18. Hope I don't get bitched at getting back into Singapore. My 4 year old passport is out of pages. Yikes.
  19. Sounds alot better than "jerry rigging" it as you call it. LOLAgain you are wrong. I've got more stability, less noise and in general a better supply for less. Nothing like what I used to get to play with when I was the Elgar/Sorensen rep, but better than what you offered up. Even still pointless discussion in that regard since you are using it to power an amplifier. As with an amp, it really just needs to get the job done. Stop chewing on the bs psychoacoustics and instead use your ears and brain for once. To clarify the other point, you recommended a plate amp for a DJ application. They are designed to be quiet in the living space you are in. Pro Audio amps have fans and yes are not optimized to be quiet, but for power per $ which is what you need when you are filling a large venue. Bang for the buck in that application they always win, but of course that is exactly what they were designed to do.
  20. And you verified the lack of leaks how? Your voltage does drop...they measured it wrong. Shop is sounding more and more suspect to me, but I've never been in one that can do nearly anything right. Some of the most absurd questions that get posted here are from people who have been working at a local shop and their mentor has misled them.
  21. Both would be HUGE wastes of money. Can get 50a for nearly 1/4 the price power supply wise. And fans are of no concern when dj'ing so not buying pro audio is nuts. I find it amusing your chase for batteries and power in your car yet you pick a measly 35a supply. Yea, you can find cheaper shit that may work, but no where near the build quality of an Astron. And you can buy different models to fit your needs. Really ?? When is the last time you DJ'd a concert or party ? No need for fans ?? Those amplifiers get hot playing strong for several hours at a time with minimal room to breathe. My DJ amplifiers had built in fans that ran constant during shows and events. And I still had to add additional fans to them. But it's what ever bro, I was just trying to help Quality power supply, rofl. Brand boners on more useless stuff? Nice. As for the amp, you recommended one without a fan I recommended the fan. Your response is teh backwards.
  22. Distortion (which is what occurs when an amp clips) is REALLY hard to hear on a sub. Could be tons of things. I'd assume the installers did everything wrong and double check it all.
  23. Your analysis is wrong too. Or at least you've now told us two different things. First it was the amplifier clipping now it is the sub. You should figure out why you think it is clipping instead of just drawing the wrong conclusion. Don't get me wrong, I'd never own a Hifonics but it isn't your problem and you won't gain anything buy jumping to one of the amps listed above. Not like they are in all that different of a league. It will not make an audible difference. In case that isn't clear. If what you think you hear now is clipping and you replace the amp with even a $10,000 amp you will still hear the same "clipping". Of course this all assumes your amp isn't blown, but both solutions lead to the shop not doing something right. Better question, why do you think the shop didn't fuck it up? Please don't answer about the shop, but about what you know about YOUR install.
  24. Shop sucks. False statement. Again, thinking the amp doesn't give out "clean" power is pointless. Even if it only gives out 50% rated upgrading to something that does the rated power will be a barely audible difference. Your friend with the JL amp has an install that isn't fucked.
  25. Let me use a theoretical for you. What I see you saying is that if I buy a 1000w amp to replace a 1000w amp it should be a huge difference. That is crazy. In particular when if you had a 750w amp and bought a 1000w you wouldn' hear a difference. Your ears aren't all that sensitive to volume differences. Takes doubling of power to get you anywhere. That all being said, you have an installation problem you NEED to fix. There is something wrong. Not saying your amp isn't a piece of crap, but don't go buy a new one to HEAR something different. Bassink linked all budget amps as well so it isn't like you are jumping up into uber quality. So seriously, fix the install and REALLY determine what is happening before spending money. Be rather stupid to do it any other way.
